Content Editor - Contract-to-Hire
System1 is looking for a talented digital content specialist to help manage the quality of our content and the creative aspects of the way in which we market that content. The ideal candidate has a passion for the written word, appreciates all things pop culture, is a savvy consumer of digital content and can easily identify the elements required to successfully market that content through advertising. This individual should be highly motivated, collaborative, accustomed to a fast-paced environment, and have a strong understanding of evolving business needs. This role will report directly to the Content Manager and will work with a team that takes pride in its cutting-edge understanding of all things content, including but not limited to production at scale, monetization, freelance management, and content marketing.
The Role You Will Have
- Build, manage and maintain a network of freelance copywriters
- Create strategic editorial calendar on a weekly basis
- Provide insight and guidance to content associates regarding quality measures of content
- Always be data-curious and quick to pivot based on the stories data is telling us
- Understand the end user experience in order to guide freelancers in creating the most engaging, entertaining content possible
- Identify seasonal trends and current events around which to generate new content
- Use data to brainstorm for content across a broad range of topic areas intended for varied demographics
- Play a leadership role in helping to manage the day-to-day editorial tasks to ensure deadlines are met, content quality is maintained and freelancers are operating efficiently
- Ensure ad copy adheres to strict requirements of multiple online advertising platforms
What You Will Bring
- BA in Journalism, English, or a related field of communications
- Exceptionally skilled in written and verbal communication
- Experience in content strategy and content marketing
- Strong writing, editing, and grammatical skills
- Able to write on-brand, trending content
- Skilled in project management and prioritization
- Experience managing content production processes
- 5 years experience writing or editing content for a variety of audiences on the web
- Experience managing freelancers
- Highly proficient in Excel and Google Sheets
- Self-motivate
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Able to thrive in a dynamic, highly collaborative environment with a team that communicates well remotely across multiple offices and locations
