Full Beaker is looking for a Director of Content that has managed high-performing teams to create powerful SEO content. In this role, you will create  news articles, advice pieces, video, and other content types in the personal finance and nursing verticals that meet consumers’ needs while driving revenue for the company. If you’ve managed editorial teams in the B2C space to audiences in the millions while directly driving 6-figure revenue for the company, the Director of Content role might be for you.

What you'll do on a day-to-day basis

  • Guide content production. You’ll create a continuous flow of valuable content for our 5 properties, always considering the user, SEO best practices, profitability, and more.
  • Manage. You will direct your content team toward success in their work and professional development.
  • Research. What strategies, tactics, and best practices should we incorporate into content production? What does the user want? You will decide and take action on your plans.
  • Analyze and Report. You will analyze the success of your content and report your progress to management.

To succeed in this job, you'll need

  • World-class management skills. A minimum of 2 years experience managing teams of 5 or more. You create goals and help teammates accomplish them. You mentor each direct report and assist with their professional development.
  • In-depth SEO knowledge.  SEO is the lifeblood of our websites, and as such, you will need to make great content decisions based on SEO best practices. You know Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and other SEO tools.
  • A passion for the user. Great content is impossible without knowing what the user wants, then delivering it. You will have a history of creating user-focused content
  • Conversion chops. Demonstrated track record of getting business results. Your content has driven a large percentage of the company’s revenue.
  • A results-driven mindset. You know your content is making a difference in your business and you have numbers to back it up.
  • Proven ability to attract a B2C audience. You have produced content that attracted the masses. You have beaten out bigger, more established sites for top SEO spots in an ultra-competitive space.
  • Big-picture thinking. With every piece your team creates, you’re thinking about SEO, conversion, user satisfaction, partner satisfaction, and more. Content should accomplish many goals at once, and you’re okay with that.
  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves. We’re a “get stuff done” place, so if something needs doing, it’s all hands to the wheel.

Nice-to-haves, but not required

  • A portfolio of websites you’ve taken to page 1 of Google via great content.
  • Experience with SEMrush, Ahrefs, and other SEO tools.
  • References from past reports who have loved working for you.
  • Exposure to the business development side of content creation, i.e. how the content affects the sales and product that the company is selling.

The best things about this job

  • Autonomy to be creative and to try new things.
  • You'll be supported, but never micromanaged.
  • The ability to manage a team.

Things you should know:

COVID and temporary/permanent remote working. Due to COVID, Full Beaker’s Bellevue office has been closed since March 5, 2020, and everyone has been working remotely. Like most companies, we can’t say for sure when our office will reopen. However, when it does, we will be respectful of everyone’s individual situation and preferences. Subject to whatever social distancing/public health requirements are in place, people that want to work in the Bellevue office on a regular and frequent basis will be able to do so. However, if people want to work remote permanently and come into the office less frequently, that will be an option too. Like every company, we’ll need to establish some ground rules for how this will work and we haven’t worked out those details yet. If this is something of interest, please do ask about it during your interview. In summary, whilst our preference is for people to be in our Bellevue office when they can, permanent WFH is an option too.
