Role Description

As a Content Strategist on our Integrated Marketing team, you will play a crucial role in defining and driving the content strategy for Dropbox’s marketing campaigns and digital experiences. You will be responsible for conceptualizing and executing compelling customer-centric content across experience.dropbox.com, as well as for acquisition, activation, upsell, and demand-generation programs on other Dropbox surfaces.  Whats most exciting about this role is the breadth of brand storytelling you’ll get to do, including thought-leadership, industry research, customer success stories, and product marketing. You’ll craft unique journeys across our audience segments for personal consumers, sole proprietors, small businesses, and mid-market enterprises.

We’re looking for someone who combines creativity and strategic thinking, who knows how to connect content and user journeys directly to business growth objectives. The ideal candidate will help us harness storytellers and creators from within and outside our organization. You will develop and manage a content calendar, including article posts, videos, eBooks, whitepapers, and other marketing initiatives, to ensure we deliver the right content at the right time and that answers customers’ needs. You’ll work within a cross-functional, high-velocity content engine and with teams across the organization to support our marketing and growth goals.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director of Marketing Content Strategy to audit, assess, and create content that aligns to business objectives and customer needs
  • Generate ideas and edit content for experience.dropbox.com, developing and overseeing audience-centric thought-leadership, product marketing, and service-driven content and their derivatives, such as social media and promotional assets
  • Manage creative asset needs and requests with internal and external production teams
  • Create and execute migration plans relevant to Dropbox’s target audience and that drive more seamless end-to-end web experiences for users
  • Collaborate with Creative Strategists, Brand Studio, Integrated Marketing teams, PMM, Editorial teams, Product Design, Web Experience and other cross-functional teams
  • Direct production teams and agencies in creating a high volume of relevant, timely, engaging content that builds brand affinity and thought leadership, and drives conversion and action within key target segments
  • Collaborate with digital strategists, data analysts, SEO and on-site search experts, and UX teams to track KPIs, verify our attribution model for tracking engagement to conversion, and draw insights into what’s working and what’s not, optimizing marketing content accordingly
  • Define the content types and topics that maximize audience engagement and exceed revenue contribution targets
  • Partner with integrated marketing campaign and channel managers to identify and resource content needs across all digital experiences and programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business, or relative experience
  • Minimum five years of B2B (business to business) or B2C (business to consumer) content marketing experience managing and executing content strategy, content structures, and content development
  • Experience in digital content creation (writing blog posts, creating social media posts, SEO, working within CMSs) and developing content strategy
  • Exceptional story teller, idea-generator, and audience-centric thinker who also has the analytical abilities to act on insights and apply strategic planning skills to create a long-term vision for the content that’s generated
  • Strong, short-form & long-form writer; media writing experience is a plus
  • Problem solver with excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to be timely and responsive
  • SaaS, software, high tech industry experience strongly desired
  • Ability to compellingly communicate a product or a brand’s story, plus a strong design sensibility to envision how content could be presented or distributed in formats other than text-based articles, such as infographics, or multimedia presentations
  • Firm understanding of user experience and strong search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) skills are preferred

Additional Perks + Benefits

In order to be successful in our Virtual First environment we needed to make changes that would allow employees to have more control over both where and how they work. Therefore, we embrace “non-linear workdays” with defined core collaboration hours that overlap across time zones. Beyond that, we encourage employees to design their own schedules to balance collaboration with needs for individual focus. We’ve also moved from “all day syncs” to an “async by default” culture, reserving meetings for discussion, debate, and decision-making, and handling all other work in our deep focus hours.
