About the Role:
As a PitchBook Emerging Technology Analyst, you’ll join a growing research team focused on creating best-in-class venture capital and emerging technology research utilized by PitchBook’s global clientele of private capital investors, investment banks and other service providers. Our team is creative, driven and focused on providing actionable, differentiated industry research to our readers and clients. Specifically, we are looking for a mid-level analyst to help expand our coverage of emerging trends and opportunities related to Transportation, Mobility and Supply Chain technologies.
PitchBook Institutional Research Group is a provider of research services to corporate clients, private market investors, advisors and other market participants. The group provides investment strategy, fund performance, and industry research through a differentiated, framework-driven approach that blends traditional fundamental investment research with PitchBook’s proprietary private market data platform. In addition, the group provides custom research and data analysis support to subscribing clients.
The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting although most employees are working remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic and will be working a hybrid remote/in-office schedule on a permanent basis. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an ongoing basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ongoing research and analysis of emerging trends occurring in the transportation, mobility and supply chain industries, focusing on growth opportunities related to electric vehicles, shared mobility services, autonomous driving, industrial transportation, air mobility and other related technologies and software
  • Generate consistent research that provides clients with up-to-date industry overviews, market trend analysis, vendor landscapes and ecosystems as well as commentary and outlooks related to growth opportunities and disruptive threats
  • Identify relevant factors and risks that will drive market adoption and growth of emerging technologies under coverage, highlighting startups poised for growth
  • Utilize proprietary PitchBook data and a variety of other resources including third-party research and industry contacts to inform and develop actionable analysis
  • Manage direct-to-client distribution channels for published notes and reports
  • Contribute to internal product development efforts to further enhance how research is distributed within the Pitchbook platform
  • Work closely with data analysis and design teams to identify unique approaches to analyzing PitchBook’s datasets and generate visual content to convey data-driven information
  • Manage and respond to inquiries from clients, press, internal colleagues and the general public regarding published research
  • Support and mentor junior and associate analysts through their development
  • Serve as research point of contact for various speaking engagements and press requests
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Computer Science Preferred. Strong understanding of financial concepts such as valuation techniques (DCF, comps, etc.), IRRs, asset allocations, fund benchmarks, KPIs etc.
  • 3+ years research experience, either in equity research, investment banking, Venture Capital or other related financial services or business development role. Related technology media experience will also be considered
  • Strong interest in venture capital, growth equity and emerging technologies
  • Knowledge of or passion for emerging trends in enterprise software and related technologies preferred
  • Critical thinker
  • Detail oriented / analytical mindset
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to write clear and insightful research reports
  • Excel proficiency
  • Experience in SQL and PitchBook Platform a plus
