The Amazon Global Communities (AGC) Team is hiring a Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to drive self-service and automation to deliver insights through advanced analytics. In this role, you will primarily work on designing and building automated reporting and dashboards using large and complex data lake/warehouse environment. We are still in the nascent stage so you will be involved from design-to-execution phase. You will be working closely with data engineers owning data-management solution and integrating data from several third-party services to generate real-time insights. As a BI Engineer, you will operate as a mix of hands-on builder, and influencer. You will work closely with engineers (SDEs) and data scientist contributing to the ongoing development and evolution of the social platform and sentiment analysis algorithm. A successful candidate will have a passion for innovation, interest in cutting-edge technology, and excitement about working in a high-impact domain.

AGC has launched a new digital initiative (social platform) for Amazon partners (entrepreneurs) to collaborate. The team’s success depends on our ability to create actionable insight from the data that our partners generate. The ideal BIE candidate will have excellent analytical abilities, outstanding business acumen, high judgment, strong technical skills, and good written and verbal communication skills. S/he will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big and be creative (while paying careful attention to detail), and enjoys working in a fast-paced dynamic environment. To be successful in this role, you should have broad skills in data mining, be comfortable dealing with large and complex data sets, while always applying analytical rigor to solve business problems.

This role is inherently cross-functional -- you will work closely product management, engineering, UX design, Data engineers across the team. You should be comfortable working in a dynamic, start-up environment, and seek data-driven decision-making. You should have strong analytical and communication skills and be able to work with product managers and business development teams to define key business questions and build data sets and models that answer them.

Responsibilities :
· Design, build, and maintain automated reporting, dashboards, and ongoing analysis to enable data driven decisions across our team and with partner teams.
· Identify, develop, manage, and execute analyses to uncover areas of opportunity and present written business recommendations that will shape the future of AGC
· Write high-quality SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data from database tables (ex. Redshift, S3, Athena etc.)
· Report key insight trends, using statistical rigor to simplify and inform the larger team of noteworthy trends that impact the business.
· Collaborate with product managers, Data Engineers/Scientists, and operational leaders to gather data and metrics requirements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

·
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
· 3+ years analyzing and interpreting data
· Experience using Python, R, etc.
· Experience with data mining and processing using SQL
· Experience building measures and metrics, and developing reporting solutions using BI data visualization and delivery tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Quicksight, etc.
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·
· Extensive experience in a data engineer or a data analyst role
· Experience with AWS services including S3, Redshift, EMR and RDS
· Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
· An ability and interest in working in a fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment
· Be self-driven, and show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete or dirty data
