Who we are:

Rover.com connects pet parents with the world’s largest network of pet sitters and dog walkers. On Rover, pet parents can easily discover, book, and manage personalized care for their dogs including pet sitting, dog walking, and doggy day care. Founded in 2011 on the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the unconditional love of a dog, Rover improves and simplifies life for pet parents and the dogs they love.

Our global headquarters are in Seattle, Washington in the United States, working closely with our teams in Spokane, Berlin, London, and Barcelona. We have a track record of being recognized as a great place to work, having been named among Seattle's 'Best Places to Work' in Seattle Business Magazine and the Puget Sound Business Journal for three years running. We're an agile, fast-growing company, and our leadership comes from some of the world's most respected tech companies. Our pioneering approach to people and pups alike landed us on the list of GeekWire’s Next Tech Titan in 2019 and the World's Most Innovative Companies in 2018 by Fast Company. Needless to say (but we're going to say it anyway)—we love dogs, and we wouldn't dream of going to work without them by our sides.

Who we're looking for:

For Business Analysts at Rover, there is no such thing as a boring day. The Marketing & Business Analytics team supports the company’s marketing efforts, while also working cross-functionally with teams throughout the organization. The analytics team owns a number of business-critical reports and data models that our global marketing teams rely on for daily reporting and analysis. This includes marketing attribution to determine how people become Rover customers, campaign reporting to monitor trends in cost efficiency and optimization, CRM data to action against a variety of customer behaviors, and overarching business narratives to identify and prioritize new opportunities. Analysts on this team frequently dig deep into huge sets of customer, sitter, and market-level data, then emerge with clear business narratives and recommendations. They work closely with business stakeholders and senior leadership to provide insights and develop reporting frameworks that drive strategy.

We are specifically looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to support our marketing attribution and performance reporting infrastructure. Our analytics team owns, among other things, the data models and procedures that our global marketing teams rely on for daily reporting and analysis. This automated data pipeline is built on several data platforms that leverage Redshift SQL, Python, and Spark. Marketers use this data to inform budgets and forecasts, customer acquisition and retention strategies, and consumer behavior insights. This analyst will act as the subject matter expert, working alongside other analysts and stakeholders to define, prioritize, and execute on future improvements and evolutions of our data models. This could include identifying opportunities to collect more accurate or complete data, layering in new features to our reporting and KPIs, creating tests and alerts to validate the accuracy of our data, and evaluating various attribution methodologies (such as first-click or multi-touch). The analyst can then analyze the results of those improvements, clearly narrating the impact they had on the business.

Why we'll hire you:

  • You are scary good with data. You love working with large datasets, and you constantly push yourself to improve the performance of your queries.
  • You examine and question data insights and don’t take anything at face value. You understand that strong analytical recommendations require an intricate understanding of both the data sources you are working with, and the broader business context.
  • You have deep empathy for the business owners you will support. You understand that people have jobs to do and decisions to make, and it is your job to help them do that in as data-driven a way as possible.
  • You are a thought partner for business owners. You are relentless in getting to the question behind the question and distilling the underlying need to analyze data.
  • You thrive in the dynamic environment of a hyper-growth startup. You unblock blockers, take initiative, and move things forward despite the real world of imperfect information.
  • You show a pattern of being self-started, self-taught, and self-directed.

Your toolset includes:

  • Fluency in SQL. You would feel confident reviewing code produced by other analysts and data scientists, as well as assisting non-technical coworkers with their reports in an office hours setting.
  • Experience processing data at scale. This could include languages like Python or R, as well as frameworks like Spark, Hive, or dbt.
  • Periscope, Tableau, Looker, or similar data visualization tools.
  • Experience with AWS (Redshift, S3, EMR) is a plus.

Your Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years experience working cross-functionally with real-world, complex datasets.
  • A college degree in a quantitative or technical field. You don't need a degree in STEM, but familiarity with quantitative concepts and an ability to apply your skill set to analytical frameworks is a must.
  • Marketing analytics experience preferred.
  • Experience working with data infrastructure / engineering teams to assist with recommendations for organizing data into performant tables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Specifically, you know how to narrate models and results to business stakeholders in a useful, concise, and actionable way.
  • Two-sided marketplace experience is a plus.

Our Style:

  • Integrated analytics team with analysts and data scientists working side-by-side, supporting code review for one another.
  • Dedicated engineering support, along with a home grown analytics and machine learning platform.
  • Data-driven decision making with A/B testing.
  • Lightweight, agile processes constantly improved with retrospectives.
  • We are friendly, supportive and respective; and we pay attention to the impact and quality of work as well as keeping work/life balance.
  • And, dogs in the office!

Benefits of Working at Rover.com:

  • Competitive compensation
  • 401k
  • Stock options
  • 4 weeks paid time off
  • Competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Commuter benefits
  • Bring your dog to work (and unlimited puppy time)
  • Doggy benefits, including $1000 toward adopting your first dog
  • Stocked fridges, coffee, soda, and lots of treats (for humans and dogs)
  • Free catered lunches semi-monthly
  • Regular team activities, including happy hours, snow tubing, game nights, and more
  • 50 free dog walks a year (Seattle only - for now!)

Candidates must be eligible to work in the US.
