The Job: 


The Business Intelligence team is ​committed​ to democratizing data—making it easy to access at the right time, in the right format, for all users. We ​develop​ self-service resources, perform complex​ analyses, author ​compelling​ visualizations, and unearth insights for teams across Tango Card. ​Collaborating​ with executive stakeholders, we ​create​ ​solutions​ that are used to make strategic decisions, immediately contributing to Tango Card’s mission to make rewards easy to send and ​awesome​ to receive. If you’re a data architecture expert with a passion for designing, implementing, and enhancing data warehousing and analytic tools that provide a centralized source of truth to strengthen decision-making, we want to chat with you! 


Reports To: ​Director, Business Intelligence

As a Business Intelligence Architect at Tango Card, you’ll improve and grow our data environment via the following:

  • Ensure that Tango Card’s BI technology stack (Snowflake, dbt, and Fivetran) is highly accurate, performant, and secure
  • Work collaboratively with BI team members and stakeholders to understand business problems; translate business requirements into ETL/ELT processes and data models
  • Validate and test ETL/ELT processes; monitor performance and perform tuning as necessary
  • Monitor Snowflake pipelines to ensure timely completion of ETL/ELT processes
  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of the data models at all levels in the data warehouse environment—logical, relational, and dimensional—to make data more accessible, consistent, and clear
  • Design and implement processes and solutions that support effective data warehouse and query performance and quality
  • Partner with Engineering to define rules and processes to separate operational and analytic data structures and ensure data integrity across all reporting 

As a Business Intelligence Architect at Tango Card, you’ll handle various documentation, such as:

  • Create and update documentation to support development work, including ETL/ELT source-to-target mappings, code review logs, validation results, execution logs, and profiling results
  • Maintain documentation of data definitions, content domains, data classes, subject area classification, and conformed dimensions—and make it available to other systems and applications for broad consumption
  • Care for data across multiple systems, including a data governance framework, data models, taxonomies

As a Business Intelligence Architect at Tango Card, you’ll be responsible for administration, such as:

  • Responsible for administering and maintaining the software and hardware that make up the company’s BI data architecture, including maintaining access to the tool via users, groups and security settings, general tool configuration and settings, monitoring the system performance, and tuning
  • Responsible for configurations and maintenance of various databases and environments, including development, test, and production

To be effective in our Business Intelligence Architect role, you must have:

  • 6+ years of experience in a data architecture role and experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing high-performance, scalable, and secure business intelligence and analytic solutions in a high-volume, modern environment
  • Advanced and modern architecture technology experience (for example: Snowflake, Redshift, and Matillion)
  • Expertise in data modeling and design, including conceptual, logical, and physical, following the Kimball DWH design methodology
  • Practical experience developing and data profiling using SQL

Our ideal Business Intelligence Architect at Tango Card will have most of the following skills and experience:

  • Ability to maintain exemplary communication and a customer-focused approach while working independently across multiple projects
  • Experience in Tango Card’s technology stack is preferred (dbt, Snowflake, and Fivetran)
  • Advanced experience translating business requirements into technical requirements and data models
  • Skilled at thinking both forward and proactively when designing analytic solutions
  • Familiarity with data flow orchestration
  • Experience with Git/GitHub, Jira, and Agile workflows a plus
