Business Intelligence Engineer II
Our Opportunity:
Chewy Pricing and Promotions team is seeking a BI Engineer II to play a key role in building their industry leading Pricing Analytics Platform. What You’ll Do:
- Design, develop, implement, test, document, and operate large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data models, reports/dashboards/BI solutions for analytics and deep learning
- Create data pipelines and implement data ingestion routines both real-time and batch using best practices in data modeling and ETL processes
- Gather business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions that work well within the overall data architecture
- Provide reporting and analysis using business intelligence tools and a logical abstraction layer against large, multi-dimensional datasets and multiple sources
- Identify optimal solutions to efficiently scale the data flow and familiarity with common data integration challenges like converting data types, handling errors, and translating between different technology stacks
- Produce comprehensive, usable data set documentation, metadata, BI reports, and Dashboards
- Use advanced SQL query design and data mining techniques, to use data, attack complex business questions, identify the root causes and drivers, and bring insights
What You’ll Need:
- Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience with detailed knowledge of BI data warehouse technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL and reporting/analytic tools
- 3+ years of experience with BI/visualization tools like Tableau/BO/OBIEE etc and building self-serve BI solutions.
- 2+ years of experience with data modeling in large Data warehousing, data lake environment
- 2+ years of work experience with large BI environments
- 2+ years of data science experience with building regression, classification models and A/B testing
- Exposure to Big Data stack environments (EMR, Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive)
- Good analytical skills with excellent knowledge of advanced SQL
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient at object-oriented Python programming and writing production-level Python code.
- Proficient in using standard Python packages or other popular data analytics and data science packages like pandas, numpy, sklearn, bokeh and plotly
Bonus:
- Experience in gathering requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting
- Experience designing analytic solutions in Vertica, Snowflake
- Experience building on AWS QuickSight, ElasticCache etc
- Experience with statistical models and building predictive models from scratch
- Experience with building NLP and sentiment analysis
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $78,500-$159,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
