About the Role:

The Corporate Development Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Director of Corporate Development with business combinations and strategic growth initiatives by assisting in the sourcing, evaluation, and execution of mergers, acquisitions, and joint venture opportunities. The Analyst will work closely with company leaders across all functions of the business and will manage multiple work streams and effectively communicate analyses. The ideal candidate will have a drive to bring value to DreamBox through their work and will have experience working in a small and agile team environment.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provide analytic support in planning and executing acquisitions and strategic growth initiatives spanning all facets of the process, including assessment, due diligence, negotiations, and closing
  • Research, review, and screen potential acquisition and partnership opportunities
  • Complete valuation analyses to drive understanding of project or investment returns
  • Perform rigorous analysis of operational and financial impact of potential projects or transactions
  • Participate in and prepare for meetings and due diligence sessions with target company management and external advisors (e.g., investment bankers, lawyers, and accountants)
  • Support financial and operational due diligence analyses of target companies and identify and resolve key deal issues
  • Develop and present executive-level memoranda, presentations, and detailed financial analyses to share with senior leadership
  • Support ad hoc projects and other administrative tasks to enhance the team’s infrastructure and connectivity with operations

Your Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge: Can prepare, read and interpret financial statements. Can build and interpret valuation models, including bolt-ons, leveraged buyouts, discounted cash flow and other returns analyses. Working knowledge of standard accounting practices and statistical techniques. Understands the strategic and operational implications of financial analyses and has ability to successfully communicate this knowledge to an audience of any background or education level.
  • Skills: Excellent quantitative and analytical skills. Detailed knowledge of financial statements and valuation methodologies, with ability to create detailed financial and operational models. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of assembling detailed analyses and comprehensive strategic rationale in executive-level presentations. Can research, synthesize, and concisely convey work plans, analyses, and transaction rationale. High energy and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with many stakeholders. Extremely proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Abilities: Exercises excellent judgment in evaluating the accuracy and completeness of financial and other data. Ability to meet deadlines on short timeframes. Understands when and how to elevate issues where appropriate. Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while achieving effective and timely results. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with executives, managers, peers and subordinates.

about You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or related field or equivalent relevant experience
  • 2-5 years of transaction-oriented analytical experience preferably within corporate development or at an investment bank
  • Must have significant direct transaction/valuation experience
  • EdTech experience is not required but is a plus
  • Preference for Seattle or Raleigh based candidates but open to remote candidates
