The Role

We’re looking for a resourceful data engineer who is passionate about harvesting data from multiple data systems and building scalable and resilient data pipelines. You will have a great opportunity to make an impact at a young and growing company help Business Intelligence and Analytics team to evolve and mature our daily data ingestion routines. If you are familiar with pulling and staging data from multiple data systems, enjoy finding creative solutions to data problems, and enthusiastic about learning or improving your skills using best practices in data modeling and ETL/ELT process for delivering multi-dimensional datasets, we have interesting challenges for you.

About The Team

The BI&A team is on a mission to bring relevant data and insights to every person at Outreach while advancing the use of data and promoting an insight-centric culture. The BI & Analytics team is a centralized resource providing a suite of services to Outreach business functions including KPI definition, dashboards & reporting, ad hoc analysis, forecasting, self-serve analytics, and data pipeline building and management.

Your Daily Adventures Will Include

  • Implement data ingestion routines that deliver raw data in a usable format
  • Help with developing, constructing, test, and maintenance of BI&A data architecture
  • Produce comprehensive, usable dataset documentation and metadata
  • Provide input and recommendations on technical issues and think through trade-offs and risks and communicate them with team/business stakeholders
  • Work with stakeholders to establish requirements and explain the benefits/risks of proposed approaches
  • Recommend and implement solutions to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality
  • Validate data sources and troubleshoot any identified issues

Basic Qualifications

  • 1 year of professional experience
  • BS degree in computer science or quantitative discipline
  • Familiarity with Kibana logs/ dealing with json
  • Familiarity with SQL and database administration
  • Familiarity with data formats (csv, json, xml)
  • Familiarity with python
  • Familiarity with APIs and querying them
  • Familiarity with AWS (S3, Redshift)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Snowflake and Matillion
  • Experience in creating data sources and administering Tableau server
  • Prior experience working with ETL/ELT
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline
  • Familiarity with modern data warehousing architecture and processes
