Do you love using applied statistics and machine learning to deliver real changes in business outcomes? The Data Scientist II working in the Data Strategy and Insights team is responsible for understanding how our customers interact, and want to interact with F5 across their journey, and for translating that information into systematized prediction systems. The Data Scientist II will partner closely with other analytic teams across the organization including Marketing, Sales, Service, and Product teams to develop predictive models and advanced analytical insights.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You will work with the team to analyze and understand patterns in our data to deliver models for churn prevention and propensity to purchase. 
  • You will collect and clean data from our data lake in order to build models that will be used in our analytics platform.
  • You partner and collaborate with product and customer success teams to understand customer problems and discover solutions in our data
  • You will rapidly prototype statistical and ML products, working with business and IT teams to deliver them to production
  • Help engineer additional features and data pipelines to increase the power of our predictive models
  • Create efficient and scalable algorithms that answer questions about our data
  • You will be responsible for learning the business and contributing your thoughts on how to best serve our internal customers with data science products. You will have a seat at the table in growing data science as a discipline at F5.

Required Skills Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, or relevant field required.  Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • 5+ year experience in applied mathematics, statistical and quantitative analysis or machine learning
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment that requires distilling technical concepts into digestible information` for non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency in SQL required
  • Proficiency in Python or R required
  • Proficiency in open source data manipulation packages such as Pandas or dplyr required
  • Applied experience with data science modeling frameworks such as H2O, Spark/MLlib, XGBoost, and scikit-learn
  • Demonstrable understanding in connecting business outcomes to predictive analytical projects
  • Command of supervised/unsupervised machine learning algorithms and the knowledge of when to use them
  • Experience scaling data/modeling pipelines using Spark, Dask, Rapids, H2O or other distributed/parallelizing frameworks
  • Experience working with data ensuring the ethical and compliant use with global privacy regulations

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with Azure and/or Databricks a plus
  • Applied experience using Bayesian analysis a plus
  • Experience in B2B segmentation is a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table
  • Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material
  • Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends)
  • Duties may require some travel to  F5 and industry events
