Mothership is looking for its first Data Scientist to join the fulfillment team. They will help us better understand our carriers, optimize our routes, improve our dispatching strategies, forecast demand, and predict traffic conditions.

We are looking for someone with a passion for data and developing powerful, mission-critical machine learning models. This role aims to improve our logistics and make Mothership the fastest, most trusted freight provider in the United States.

Our team works in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, so great communication skills and a willingness to take risks and push boundaries are a must.

What You'll Do

• Make significant and early contributions to the role of data science and machine learning at Mothership
• Work with product and engineering teams across the company to make data-driven decisions 
• Hands-on work with geospatial data
• Design, implement, and evaluate A/B tests
• Feature engineering
• Machine learning modeling
• Build dashboards and data visualizations
• Help to build and grow a data science team

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent
• 5+ years of working in the data science field within a well-established and/or high-growth company
• Proficiency in data science, machine learning, descriptive and inferential statistics, and A/B testing
• Experience using statistical techniques to answer business questions and make data-driven decisions
• Ability to select, train, and evaluate machine learning models for a variety of use cases
• Ability to jump in and fix or extend open-source projects
• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate complex technical information to both professionals and non-specialists

Compensation Philosophy

At Mothership, we believe it's vital to offer a range of compensation packages, so you have the power to make the appropriate financial decision for yourself and your family. Upon offer, you will receive a breakdown of 5 different cash vs. equity packages to choose from, with additional information on estimated equity valuation.

The cash portion for this role ranges from $188,000 - $235,000.

We offer equity options in ISO that vest over four years with a one-year cliff. The % and value will be discussed later in the interview process.
