The Job

We’re seeking a Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics to guide all departments to understand their business results. As a trusted, creative leader you will partner with company leaders and key stakeholders, and collaborate to determine clear key metrics, information and insights. You have many analytical tools in your toolbox, including data definitions, analysis, and visualizations. If you excel at thinking strategy, enjoy partnering across diverse and dynamic teams (e.g. Business Systems, Enterprise Data Architecture, Data Engineering), and want to feel your direct impact at a technology company - this could be it.

Reports To: Vice President, Business Technology.

You will be successful as a Director of BI & Analytics at Tango Card if you:

  • Are skilled at solving ambiguous problems. You know what questions to ask. You think both forward, and proactively when crafting analytic solutions.
  • Possess outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills. We are proud to have remote-based teams with diverse technical backgrounds. The ability to collaborate across teams effectively is key!
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial approach to BI. Design and drive creative, scalable, realistic projects that help Tango Card deliver on our Strategy Goals. Have open communication to share, collaborate, adopt change, and decide on the best approach for TC.
  • Are a strategic problem solver with tactical abilities. You can build, delegate, and deliver.
  • Promote an environment of sharing, exploration and teamwork across departments.

As Director of BI & Analytics at Tango Card, you will:

  • Define and evolve our BI and Data Analytics vision.
  • Partner with key collaborators and company leadership to advise objectives, measure key results, establish and monitor KPIs, and identify impactful supporting initiatives.
  • Build and curate an actionable and iterative roadmap, ensuring there is defined ownership and responsibility as well as dependencies identified.
  • Lead all Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, and relevant reporting functions. Guide the team to gather analysis and reporting requirements to determine priorities. You are accountable for the delivery, success, and integrity of this data!
  • Collaborate with Leadership, Product Engineering, Data Engineering, within Business Technology, and beyond. Serve as a partner and subject-matter guide.
  • Proactively identify and create insights for such operations as product performance, sales opportunities, and regulatory compliance predictive needs. Understand competitive market strategies and relate Tango Card’s performance.
  • Work with architects to maintain, update, or bring in new BI tools and Databases, as a part of thought leadership around data delivery. Work to make these insights actionable across our systems.
  • Proactively communicate, listen, and advocate for business-impacting data and analysis throughout the organization, including regularly giving BI training and presentations.
  • Lead priorities, initiatives, projects, and tasks for the team.
  • Be comfortable as a do-er or a leader.

To be effective in our Director of BI & Analytics role, you must have:

  • 7+ years of leading analytics teams. You’ve been responsible for designing, developing, testing and implementing successful, scalable, and secure business intelligence solutions in a modern, high-volume environment
  • 5+ years of requirements gathering experience across multiple applications and business functions.
  • 3+ years modern architecture technology experience (e.g. Snowflake, Redshift)
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and practical experience with Python and/or R
  • Proficient in data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
  • Experience developing and leading company-wide data governance frameworks. Understanding of how to develop practical frameworks that ensure the validity and accuracy of data
  • Experience holding supervisory responsibility for all Business Intelligence and Analytics relevant reporting roles and associated personnel; possibly other roles in the future

Our ideal Director of BI & Analytics at Tango Card will have most of the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in Tango Card’s technology stack is preferred (e.g. Snowflake, Tableau, dbt, Fivetran, Workato, Salesforce, NetSuite, HubSpot)
  • Background in data science and leading teams to deliver relevant artifacts
  • Experience with change management, Git/GitHub, Jira, and Agile workflows a plus
