Job Description

The Director of Healthcare Analytics, reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, is responsible for oversight of healthcare analytics for population health management to support Accolade’s Clinical Strategy. This key role will work closely with internal and external partners to ensure the successful delivery of Accolade’s customer commitments. The Director of Healthcare Analytics will be expected have a high level of understanding of health plans and health systems with the ability to analyze large healthcare data sets to identify opportunities to improve clinical operational performance, as well as health care utilization, cost and outcomes. 

A day in the life…

  • Delivers highly experienced health care analytics strategy, support, and scientific leadership across the business to effectively improve Accolade’s population health insights and outcomes.
  • Leads in the development of statistical aspects of collaborative clinical, epidemiological and health outcomes research.
  • Provides leadership to existing healthcare analytics team.
  • Performs deep statistical data analysis to understand the impact of multiple conditions on health outcomes; develops long-term plans to address issues uncovered by the data.
  • Manages and executes entire projects or components of large projects from start to finish including data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving and communication of insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborates with Accolade’s business intellence/reporting, data science and actuary teams on the development and implementation of analytic strategies to support Accolade’s personalized population health initiatives.
  • Analyzes data to identify opportunities for clinical performance improvement and new solution development to impact populations served by Accolade.
  • Partners with the data science team on leveraging big data to explore areas of health care analytics and technologies
  • Leverages data insights to optimize the successful personalized population health management of Accolade’s current customer needs, while predicting needs for the future.
  • Effectively communicates findings and proposed recommendations from these analyses to relevant Sr/Executive Leadership.

Qualifications

What we are looking for…

  • Master’s Degree in Biostatistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Informatics, or related field; PhD is preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant prior work experience in a healthcare analytics role; at least 3 years of experience in programming/analysis of large healthcare datasets. Previous experience with health care data sources such as claims, digital health solutions, electronic health records, clinical and patient reported data.
  • Knowledge of standard methods for measuring health care utilization, spending, quality and outcomes, risk adjustment, provider profiling and related analytical tasks.
  • Knowledge and understanding of how plan designs interact and impact population health preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail, data quality and scientific rigor.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have ability to translate user needs into viable support programs and services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
