Design research has been part of Airbnb from the beginning, ever since Paul Graham told the Airbnb founders, "go to your users," and the founders then got on a plane to meet with early Airbnb hosts that very weekend. The Insights team is part of an interdisciplinary product team whose mission is to inform and inspire teams around the company with actionable insights. You are responsible for uncovering and communicating deep insights about our customers’ behaviors, needs, and desires. No small feat when your customers are in 192 countries!
Responsibilities
- Inform decisions from product definition to launch (and after), working at both a strategic and tactical level.
- Bring insights about users by a variety of methods whether it be surveys, interviews, logs analysis, usability studies, ethnographic observation or a new method you invent.
- Share findings with designers, engineers, producers, and others, creating a smarter, more informed and more empathetic product team.
- Participate in outreach to the company by teaching, telling stories, and creating experiences.
Experience
- Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- 3+ years industry experience within a product organization.
- Experience with qualitative methods (interviewing, usability studies, ethnographic observation).
- Experience managing projects involving cross-functional teams.
- Ability to have an empathetic, human-centric approach to analysis.
Bonus Skills
- Visual communication skills.
- Expert in survey analysis, including survey design and regression analysis.
- Experience with visualization language, e.g. using Javascript for interactive visualizations on the web.
- Experience in quantitative methods, such as statistical analysis, logo analysis, and A/B testing.
- Experience with SQL
