Position Summary:

The Claims Support Department at Trupanion is looking for a Records Coordinator to join the Records Collection team. Records Coordinators will be responsible for reviewing medical records data, making required changes, making follow-up requests, and ensuring accuracy and record completeness.

Upon hire, Records Coordinators will be expected to complete a training program of up to 90 days, which will cover all the skills and tools necessary for the position. After the training period, Records Coordinators will be expected to perform at a baseline team standard of productivity and accuracy. Optimal candidates for this position will have keen problem-solving abilities, a desire to work independently, strong self-motivation, attention to detail, and a minimum of two years of experience in both data entry and customer service. Joining Trupanion with an established understanding of veterinary medical terminology and medical conditions is a major plus!

Records Coordinators can work in our Seattle office, or work remotely.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Identifying what constitutes complete and sequential medical history
  • Organizing data to expedite claim processing
  • Contacting veterinary care professionals and pet owners to acquire additional data
  • Communicating clearly, concisely, and informatively through multiple avenues, including phone, email, fax, and database comments.

Qualifications (Please include a cover letter with your application!)

Education, Registration & Certification:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience with data entry
  • 1+ years of experience with customer service
  • Experience working in a veterinary hospital is preferred, but not required

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Computer competency with excellent typing and 10-key skills
  • Ability to work with minimal direction once objectives are clearly stated
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to handle stress and actively seek solutions
  • Outstanding verbal and written interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Adaptability in a quickly changing work environment
  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or French (additional $1/hour per language)
