Blue Nile is seeking a highly quantitative Temporary Pricing Analyst  who will be a key contributor to the company’s pricing strategy.  This position will directly support the development and implementation of our pricing strategy by providing analytical input. 

The position requires innovative and analytical solutions through the use of data analysis and collaborative partnerships with Merchandising, Planning, and Sourcing teams to drive pricing strategy.  The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with a passion for deep diving into data to identify trends and draw conclusions. 

We anticipate this role to begin end of June / beginning of July and last approximately 10 weeks.

Responsibilities:

• Execute pricing analyses to develop continuous evolution of pricing strategies for categories
• Assist in the collection of pricing data, create frameworks for pricing decisions, and identify opportunities to optimize sales
• Apply advanced statistical and analytic techniques to large amounts of data with the goal of driving business decisions and providing the primary input in evolving the company’s pricing strategies
• Support the Pricing team by building pricing models and conducting elasticity analyses to measure the effectiveness of pricing strategies and promotions
• Accurately produce pricing reports on a routine basis, as well as completing frequent ad hoc analyses
• Understand competitive dynamics in an actionable way including pricing, selection, changes and trends over time
• Work cross-functionally with internal customers to align on pricing strategies, new products, and promotional activities

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Business Administration or other analytically intensive studies preferred
• One year of relevant e-Commerce experience in merchandise/retail pricing methodologies preferred
• Familiar with one or more analysis tools such as SAS, Python, R, Matlab, or Tableau
• Demonstrated Excel skills required, including the ability to manipulate large sets of data
• SQL knowledge required
• Intellectually curious; driven to understand data and relationships
• Strong business acumen; ability to see the big picture and the ability to understand and solve for strategic objectives
• Strong and effective communication skills;
• Ability to prioritize and maintain accuracy in a dynamic environment
• Proven ability to generate actionable and accurate business results through analysis
