The Principal Data Architect will design, direct, and maintain the implementation of world-class business data solutions to support a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. This hands-on leader will serve as a data expert and adviser for all teams, guiding the overall data strategy of the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a strategic company-wide data management vision and roadmap which encompasses all of the enterprise systems, applications, and data
  • Serve as a subject matter expert by investigating and implementing the latest solutions available
  • Ensure the most efficient and effective data solutions and practices are in place
  • Establish and enforce policies to align company resources towards responsible data collection, transformation, and consumption
  • Responsible for the creation, ownership and modification of data governance processes and procedures
  • Direct and approve the design of data storage systems
  • Monitor, analyze, and adjust business intelligence solutions to maximize balance between currency of data and performance of production systems
  • Present and demonstrate data storage and business intelligence best practices to key stakeholders
  • Design and enforce data security policies and procedures to ensure security of sensitive data
  • Assist all internal teams with the identification, evaluation and mitigation of business intelligence risks
  • Manage communications and expectations with stakeholders
  • Provide training and mentoring to Engineering team members
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work-related experience
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience designing, implementing and maintaining large-scale database, BI and DW solutions
  • Strong proficiency in RDBMS database security, data recovery, performance, monitoring, and tuning
  • Experience in Amazon DynamoDB, Redshift, MSSQL, Snowflake or similar solutions
  • Experience in Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects, or similar solutions
  • Experience in a cloud-based environment (AWS)
  • Experience in introducing and enforcing successful data governance policies and procedures
  • Ability to translate business concepts and priorities into data storage solutions
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in an effective manner to a wide audience of non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish strong cross-organizational partnerships
  • Some travel may be required, including internationally
