Senior Business Analyst
The Senior Business Analyst is a key member of the Expedia Retail eCommerce team, which defines and executes on strategy for our Expedia brand. The Business Analyst is primarily responsible for analytics, reporting, and strategic insights and initiatives. This role will have broad exposure to several functional groups within the organization and candidates need a proven track record of effectively communicating to cross-functional stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the distribution and creation of standard and ad-hoc analyses to help track and communicate all aspects of performance and assist in critical business decision support
- Track and understand the key macro trends that impact our businesses on a day to day basis
- Daily monitoring of key site metrics and recommend improvement plans as necessary
- Provide analytics, sizing and input into business cases for new strategic initiatives
- Provide weekly performance analysis and insights at both the line of business and market level for North America
- Look at market-level performance data to identify trends and uncover underlying issues
- Work cross-functionally with stakeholders to automate reports as well as develop the business requirements needed for alerts and automation
- Develop and present materials for senior leadership around business performance and revenue generating opportunities
- Gather complex data, analyze trends, identify opportunities and quantify the potential value of these opportunities
- Serve as a first point of contact for various stakeholders around the organization in terms of uncovering and correcting business performance issues
- Function independently with minimal supervision and proactively deliver key analytical projects
- Work closely with teams throughout the company, including Technology, Product, Business Operations, Finance, Supply, and Marketing to coordinate and execute against the business plan
- Other adhoc projects and analyses as need
Qualifications:
- Highly analytical with the ability to work independently and manage several simultaneous projects
- Expert proficiency in Excel, Tableau, Omniture, Quobole and SQL (preferred), ability and desire to attack complex data sets with minimal training
- Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and presentation - to effectively deliver strategy to various individuals across the organization and senior leadership
- Ability to take large data sets and summarize down to actionable levels, turning analysis into answers
- Results-driven with the willingness to dive deep into details while still grasping the big picture
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive projects forward
- Structured in your problem-solving approach with a high level understanding of technology
- Professional, "get it done" attitude and “help the team win” work ethic with an ability to take projects and run with them
- Self-directed, comfort with ambiguity, must have a problem solving mindset
- Bachelor's degree required
- 2-5 years of relevant experience
