Senior Competitive Intelligence Manager
Role Description
The Sr CI Manager will report to the Head of Audience Marketing and Competitive Intelligence, and lead CI program efforts for our Dropbox products. This marketer will build a solid foundational understanding of how Dropbox differentiates against our key competitors and contribute insights to inform messaging, positioning, GTM strategy, and product roadmap. Further, the role entails deep collaboration with key internal stakeholders, working cross-functionally with marketing, product, sales, sales enablement, and executive leadership.
This candidate should have exceptional communication skills, strike the right balance between technical and marketing content, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple time-sensitive projects.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring competitor activities via Crayon, events, earnings calls, etc.
- Synthesizing competitor movements into CI newsletter, alerts, and executive reports
- Creating and maintaining competitive battlecards and related messaging for sales and campaign content
- Partnering with our Research & Insights team to conduct market research in support of new opportunities and market sizing
- Conducting deep technical research on tier 1 competitors using various methodologies
- Becoming the go-to person for marketing, product, sales, and executive teams on competitive insights, to influence Dropbox’s product roadmap and strategies
- Developing a broad understanding of the document workflow and collaboration spaces and be able to identify technology advancements made by competitors
- Understanding technology trends relevant to our market space to identify opportunities to differentiate and make threat assessments with respect to competitive positioning
- Collaborating with Sales Operations in gathering and analyzing competitive data during various stages of the sales cycle
- Contributing to the building of competitive assets and collateral that simplify technical and product details, to be easily consumed and appreciated by non-technical audiences
- Contributing to sales enablement for all field-facing teams within Dropbox
Requirements
- 8+ years of work experience, with 5+ years in marketing or product marketing
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in competitive intelligence, market research, consumer insights, brand/marketing strategy, business intelligence, or other strategic roles supporting go-to-market initiatives
- Successful history of executing and analyzing market research and/or competitive intelligence projects
- Marketing competencies across GTM messaging, customer insights, content creation, and storytelling
- Efficient, highly productive, and results-focused multi-tasker with an extremely organized and detail-oriented approach
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and be willing to learn new things with a positive attitude
- Strong project and organizational skills with the ability to optimally structure and prioritize work
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, visual), both for internal audiences and customer-facing messaging
- Able to drive qualitative and quantitative research and analysis, synthesize actionable insights, and present clear recommendations
- Takes ownership: when encountering barriers, unblocks self by proactively assessing and eliminating the root cause
- Proven customer-centricity and skills creating quality customer-facing content, with a demonstrated understanding of requirements across mediums (email, web, etc.) and phases of the customer lifecycle
- Bonus if you have an MBA, but it’s not required
Total Rewards
For candidates hired in Colorado, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is $123,300 - $145,000 - $166,800.
This salary/OTE range represents the low, middle, and high end of the salary or OTE (Sales roles) range for this position, and is subject to change. To determine a Dropboxer’s starting pay we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity. This position may be considered a promotional opportunity.
Salary/OTE is just one component of Dropbox’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
