Senior Manager, Database Systems

The ServiceNow platform not only powers every ServiceNow delivered application but also allows customers to create their own custom applications and solutions. Our goal is to build a high performing, scalable and robust database platform that can support the various workloads our customers deploy.

As our customer base and their usage grows, it is imperative for our database platform to adapt to support different workloads as demanded by our customers. Our database engineering team is responsible for building the core engine which supports these use cases. This includes developing in-memory and on-disk data structures and algorithms, row and columnar stores, networking, query optimization, and execution.

In this team, we are looking for a manager with passion and commitment to overcome hard technical and architectural challenges to deliver excellent customer outcomes. What you get to do in this role:

  • Manage and grow a team of super-smart engineers building and deploying Hybrid database (HTAP) solutions.
  • Work closely with product management, product support and other dev teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Use critical thinking skills to solve difficult and sometimes ambiguous problems.
  • Deliver outstanding experience for our customers.

 In order to be successful, we need someone who has:

  • 12+ years of software development experience with 7+ years of experience as manager leading software developers
  • Experience leading database projects in C, C++ or Go with development automations in Python, shell scripts or equivalent
  • Able to hire top talent and build a productive team
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly and execute plans to integrate innovative solutions to service now platform
  • Experience with Cloud Database Platforms and deployment tools like kubernetes will be a big plus
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and Inter-Personal skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
