About you:

We are looking for an experienced Research Scientist to join the Dynamic Pricing Team in Convoy’s Marketplace organization. The Dynamic Pricing Team owns Convoy’s core models for bid optimization and cost prediction that impact both sides of our marketplace. This role has the potential to unlock significant value for the company as we invest in continuous improvement on the fundamental algorithms at the heart of our business and develop new solutions for our ever evolving problem space.

Data Science is at the core of Convoy’s platform. We build the models that power freight pricing, shipment offer relevance, auction bidding strategy, and other core services. The breadth of the problems space is huge, spanning machine learning, optimization, causal inference, econometrics, and prediction domains. And we have only begun to dig into the difficult and diverse problems in our two-sided marketplace.

You will work on:

• Forecasting/Predicting truck costs
• Developing and improving machine learning and/or reinforcement learning models
• Deep Learning model development and deployment
• Leading research initiatives for costs forecasting, dynamic Pricing, and optimization

You have the following skills and experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience doing predictive modeling and machine learning in a production setting
• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Applied Math/OR, Engineering, Quant Economics and Finance, or related quantitative subject
• Experience with Python for machine learning
• Experience with deep learning toolkits and frameworks
• Experience with SQL and/or Big Data Tools
• Intelligent but practical; you want to get things done and love simplicity
• You’re humble, effective and biased toward action and learning

Nice to have:

• Experience in dynamic pricing or automated trading
• Experience with two-sided marketplaces (platforms), financial markets and economic theory
• Experience developing mature models and doing the tough research work to unlock value
• Experience deploying and maintaining models in production
