Data Science is at the core of Convoy’s platform. We build the machine learning models that power freight pricing, shipment offer relevance, auction bidding strategy, and other core services. The breadth of the problem space is huge, spanning machine learning, optimization, causal inference, economics, and prediction domains. And we have only begun to dig into the difficult and diverse problems in our two-sided marketplace.

The Offer Relevance team at Convoy is looking for a seasoned machine learning scientist with expertise in personalization and recommendation to enhance our in-app search recommendations and personalized list of offers. As a Research Scientist, you will be working closely with your software, product, and design team members to build, deploy, and enhance the machine learning models that power the Convoy app.

You will work on:

• Recommendation Systems
• A/B Testing
• Search Optimization
• Machine Learning

You have the following skills and experience:

• MS or PhD in Machine Learning, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Math, Electrical Engineering, or related quantitative subject
• Expert knowledge and practical experience in several of the following areas: machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, informational retrieval
• Extensive experience with R or Python
• Minimum of 5 years of experience building production models in a dynamic business environment
• Intelligent but practical; you want to get things done and love simplicity
• Excellent presenter and writer
• You’re a leader and will speak up where needed
• You have a habit of bias-to-action

Nice to have:

• SQL fluency
• Experience in advertising, search optimization, recommender systems
