Senior Research Software Engineer, Data Science

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a senior research software engineer in data science who is self-motivated, driven to succeed, and works well in teams. You must be able to communicate with the data science team, productionalize research models, and deliver quality code on-time.
Parallel computing experience, as well as some experience with SQL databases is a must; experience deploying machine learning models to production is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities to include:
Work with existing code and services to expand or add new features and drive scale-out
Work with and understand the nuances of various third-party ad platforms
Work with and understand platform tools and SDKs for AWS
Work with and understand various machine learning and applied statistical models
Design and optimize SQL DDL, queries, and related client code
Effectively communicate with business stake holders and your fellow engineers when answering questions, participating in discussions, or otherwise helping out
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated competent design approach and concern for best practices
Possess the ability to work and communicate in a software team: lead discussions, provide thoughtful critiques, and clearly express your ideas or suggestions
8+ years of software development experience in multiple languages. Any of: Java, C/C++, Go, Rust, D, or Python
Experience with SQL databases (MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server)
Plus: Parallel computing experience
Plus: Coursework or professional experience with machine learning or applied statistics
Plus: Experienced at working with data set sizes ranging from millions to billions of rows
Plus: Experienced with AWS and its various offerings
Plus: Experience with any: Spark, Hadoop, Presto, or Hive
