The Opportunity

Blue Nile’s Strategy group is the internal strategy team for the overall business.  The Strategy group provides team members with an opportunity to shape the overall direction of the business and impact all of the commercial and support functions.  You will work across the organization in developing strategic recommendations, conducting in depth analysis and supporting the business in delivering impact and their business objectives. 

Reporting to the Director of Strategy, the Sr. Manager role is charged with delivering thoughtful, insightful and high impact contributions across a range of key strategic issues.  You will work with the cross-functional strategic teams to develop the long-term strategic plans and then play a role supporting them in developing key insights, plans and actions that will deliver business results on their key priorities.  The Sr. Manager will work across the organization and establish relationships and influence with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of the organization.  The Manger will also play a key role in tracking and monitoring key initiatives and results of implemented strategies and communicating outcomes to executive leadership.

Key capabilities

  • Analytics: Conduct clear, fact-based and data driven analysis to inform key decisions
  • Insights: Deliver world class strategic insights and recommendations with the ability to think big picture and also dive deep on key details
  • Prioritization: Define robust action plans that prioritize key activities to deliver the maximum value for the business
  • Communication: Develop high impact presentations for key audiences and senior executives that clearly and concisely communicate key ideas, insights and actions
  • Relationships: Develop strong relationships with cross-functional business partners across the company to inform and develop strategic plans and actively support the execution of those plans
  • Leadership: Exhibit leadership and influencing skills including the ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders, drive teams for outcomes and results, manage ambiguity and influence others to enable buy-in and action

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and executing Blue Nile’s long-term strategic plans and goals including strategic pillars, goals, actions plans and roadmaps and measurement systems
  • Help track and monitor key initiatives and results of implemented strategies and communicate outcomes to executive leadership
  • Conduct hands on analytics and modeling retrieving, compiling and analyzing data from various sources into logical structures and frameworks that deliver actionable insight
  • Work collaboratively to identify the key strategic opportunities based on thought leadership, best-in-class analysis, deep insights and pragmatism to ensure implementation
  • Partner with commercial functions including Product, Marketing and Merchandising to develop growth strategies, key value levers and opportunities to maximize results
  • Identify and distill key strategic themes, business issues, ideas and opportunities into actionable execution plans and next steps
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and influence management skills to gain credibility with commercial function leaders to drive change while challenging the status quo
  • Manage multiple initiatives at once and prioritize based upon business needs, value creation and urgency

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full time work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Highly analytical, data driven, motivated and decisive thought leader with appropriate perspective on the big picture and attention to detail
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think broadly, refine questions and develop analytical frameworks that drive to key insights and business recommendations
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently, be proactive, drive to outcomes and deliver results
  • Strong sense of pragmatism and business judgment to ensure insights and recommendations lead to execution, action and impact
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability to develop written materials and present to executive audiences
  • Comfort in dealing with ambiguity in a dynamic and fast-moving environment and the ability to manage and prioritize across multiple teams, initiatives and projects
