About the Role:

If you've got an eye for design and a knack for inspiring others, this vision-heavy position could be for you. The Creative Director contributes to the PitchBook Marketing team's success by leading the Creative Design Team, overseeing the creative vision of the PitchBook brand, and manifesting that vision through compelling creative solutions that deliver on brand, strategic, and business goals across internal and customer touch points. A successful person in this role will balance creativity, humility, collaboration, inclusion and perspective, and want to represent the creative and marketing division and its business requirements across the broader community at PitchBook.

The Marketing team is critical to fueling the company's growth by utilizing a variety of strategies to help our Sales and Customer Success teams grow and retain our client base. The Marketing team is responsible for all demand generation efforts via engaging campaign executions, effective product marketing strategies, and client and trade-show events. The Marketing team is also responsible for promoting the PitchBook brand and managing internal communications.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees creative direction and creative process for all brand and marketing expressions
  • Translates marketing objectives into clear creative strategies.
  • Ensures consistent execution of PitchBook's brand strategy and positioning
  • Builds relationships and manages outside agencies and vendors (as needed)
  • Leads a team of varied designers, including art direction, illustration, VX/UX, and motion
  • Actively participates in attracting, retaining and career development of top-tier design talent 
  • Stays current with the competitive landscape, emerging trends, customer behavior
  • Generates new ideas and innovation for: creative execution, customer experience, marketing strategy, work process and execution
  • Fosters a culture of creativity, excellence, accountability, and results
  • Works closely with multidisciplinary teams
  • Contributes to the achievement of the marketing/brand teams' strategies and goals via successful creative work 
  • Ensures work supports PitchBook's visual communication and brand standards
  • Reviews work, troubleshoots and provides feedback to creative teams
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of creative design & direction, concept-development, and creative team leadership experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience 
  • Understanding of B2B branding and marketing. Experience in financial and tech industries desired but not required
  • Ability to create solutions for multiple channels (digital, print, social media, advertising, direct, film/ video, experiential and environmental) including development and production 
  • Significant leadership and Influence at both a senior leadership level and throughout the company
  • Cultural fluency in terms of trend awareness, design drivers, and overall social themes
  • Big picture thinking combined with a focus on execution and results
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Capable of learning new technologies, industries, and business processes quickly
  • Adobe creative suite and emerging design technology knowledge
  • Ability to embrace and effectively navigate change
  • Desire to foster a culture of inclusion and respect
