We're looking for the right person to join our close-knit team and help take our foundational product and business to the next level. Mason's core product is mobile infrastructure as a service ("mobile IaaS") — think elastic, customizable hardware + software + services. Mason is used across industries and use cases today, from digitizing clinical trials to improving warehouse efficiency to streamlining retail payments and more.
Mason is looking for an Industrial Designer who has hands-on design skills to create aesthetically pleasing, ergonomically correct, beautifully efficient, and user-centric products. You have a thorough understanding of the design and creative process from start to finish and have experience in creating and delivering consumer electronics to the market. As an industrial designer, you will join a world-class group of electrical, mechanical, software engineers who are defining enterprise platform service through both hardware and software.

What you’ll work on:
- Conduct user research and survey to deliver data-driven design solutions and user experience for Mason hardware line-up
- Help create the visual and physical language of Mason through the design of our hardware.
- Provide competent industrial design sketches to solve problems and be able to communicate design intent to non-designers
- Utilize user-centric thinking and good aesthetic sensibility to align our brand to customer needs.
- Translate well-defined 2D sketches to 3D CAD models and practice iterative design refinement through CAD modeling.
- Utilize 3D prototyping tools to test and validate design solutions.
- Work collaboratively with multiple cross-functional teams on complex technical programs in a fast-paced environment.
- Stay up to date on current themes, trends, and technologies in user interface and experience design.
- Contribute concepts and problem-solving across multiple projects.
This position requires excellent design, communication, and organization skills, and the ability to work across teams. Candidates will also be expected to take a product idea from concept to production while quickly broadening their technical understanding as new technologies become available.
What you bring to the table:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in product development
- A bachelor’s degree in industrial design or product design or a similar field is required
- Strong verbal and visual communication skills
- Proficient in 2D design, graphics, and Adobe Suite
- Passionate in creating seamless hardware/software experiences
- Skilled with rendering software (Keyshot, or similar)
- Skilled in one or more 3D CAD applications (Experience with Rhino is highly desired)
- A strong portfolio demonstrating breadth and creativity in product design, experience with various rapid prototyping tools and methods, and a strong understanding of design and creative process is required
- Excellent designer in form-giving, sketching, 3D modeling, color, material, and finish
