    As a Principal Experience Designer on the Flights team, you will work with researchers,content strategists, UX designers, product managers, and engineers. You will guidethe vision and strategic direction to create experiences that help our customersdiscover, plan, and book travel. Expedia disrupted the airline industry with its flightshopping and booking technology 20 years ago.     What you'll do:

  • Influence and partner with agile teams of product managers, researchers, front-end and back-end engineers, and other UX designers in framing and solving problems across large or complex areas
  • Lead the development of new design standards and patterns, in partnership with design, marketing, and product teams, based on brand guidelines and user feedback
  • Create a design vision with your innovative ideas and deep understanding of the traveler journey
  • Develop experience requirements and direct the implementation of entire end-to-end experiences, markets, and products
  • Design enterprise quality components, foundational utilities, and highly functional proofs-of-concept
  • Leverage and contribute to design systems that optimize for flexibility, re-use, usability, performance, brand distinction, and visual appeal
  • Identify qualitative and quantitative insights of customer research and data and business analytics to drive insights and solutions within a customer-centric design processes
  • Use strong systems thinking to solve complex problems by understanding how the Flight product influences and fits within a customer’s trip planning process and experience

    Who you are:

  • Have experience using UX methods, not as a tool to resolve execution problems, but to identify new opportunities for value creation
  • Have experience developing and articulating a compelling vision
  • Have experience working with partners to illustrate new approaches to experiences and how they impact business
  • Have experience driving innovative efforts that uncover new value or new kinds of experiences
  • Excellent core visual and interaction design skills with excellent technical capabilities in prototyping, front-end presentation technology, and user- centered design methods
  • Have a solid understanding of accessible design
  • A UX design leader with 10+ years in the field or a degree in a relevant field (human-computer interaction, graphic design, interaction design, computer science, or communications), and a portfolio of UX-focused work samples for web and mobile applications
