About the role

We are searching for a Product Design Intern to help drive adoption of new features and products within our analytics platform. You will work with our Product Manager and small team of engineers through the whole design lifecycle, from talking with customers and iterating through ideas to producing design specs for the engineering team. You should be passionate to run design from discovery to delivery, and to see your work go out to the world.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a design graduate program, or 1-3 years of professional UX or Product design experience.
  • Experience with data visualization and UX design on web-based products.
  • User research experience is a bonus.
  • Some experience with B2B products preferred.
  • Experience with Figma preferred (or the ability to get up to speed quickly).
  • Ability to work approximately 20 hours per week during the normal work week; including at least 1 day per week in-person at our office in downtown Seattle (Westlake Center).
  • A minimum commitment of 6 months, with potential to extend.
  • A portfolio of projects or past work to share.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with engineering and product management to apply the right level of design process rigor in feature development.
  • Perform user research and usability testing with existing Hazel customers.
  • Create prototypes and mockups for testing and sharing ideas.
  • Create high fidelity design assets and specs for engineers to work with.
  • Flex into other design, product, and design needs as determined by business priorities.

What we offer

  • The opportunity to work in a small and fast growing, yet mature, startup.
  • Access to an existing customer base of some of the world's leading brands - no recruiting or screening research participants required.
  • The ability to contribute significantly to new features used by food safety teams across the US, Canada, and UK, and to make an impact on improving public health outcomes.
  • Daily lunch provided (for when you're in the office during lunch hour)
  • Compensation: $21-$33/hour, dependent on experience.
  • Possibility to extend internship depending on mutual interest and availability.
