Role Description

Security is top of mind for our customers. Dropbox wants to help people who are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of their content but do not have the time or training of traditional IT admins to do so. Increasing data privacy regulations worldwide are putting a growing security burden on freelancers, creators and small businesses who don’t have the staff or knowledge to handle it. Existing security solutions are either extremely complex, not privacy oriented, or geared towards big companies enterprise. There is an unmet need for something that just works and is just simply safe.

In this role, you will create new features that enable creators and small businesses to protect and secure their most sensitive and confidential information. You’ll collaborate with likeminded designers, engineers and product managers to define product strategy and execute on experiences that are simple and easy to use. We’re looking for curious and inventive full stack product designers to create end-to-end experiences from identifying and understanding pain points to owning the craft and finish of every detail in the product.

Responsibilities

  • Driving discovery and planning with your cross-functional partners on vision and roadmaps.
  • Collaborating with Research, Product, Engineering and Design partners to identify internal customer-centered problems.
  • Leading design sprints, brainstorms and other generative working sessions.
  • Designing 0 → 1 solutions.
  • Prototyping rapidly to validate the need for, or efficacy of, a solution.
  • Contribute to the short-term and long-term vision of your team.
  • Gathering feedback and analyzing the overall efficacy of launched solutions to identify pain points and iterate.

Requirements

  • Thrives in ambiguity and prefers an entrepreneurial style of approaching work.
  • Loves highly complex, fast paced challenges.
  • Navigates the strategy, discovery, and design phases of the design process.
  • Demonstrates divergent, generative thinking and is able to generate lots of ideas quickly.
  • Uses analytical thinking and tools to set direction with clear rationale.
  • Communicates iteratively through various media, from sketches to high resolution prototypes.
  • Communicates clearly, and with compelling presentation and style.
  • Prototypes with Figma (or similar tools like Sketch, Adobe XD, Framer, etc).
  • Refines their solutions and designs through usability testing.
  • Understands the basics of interaction design.
  • Approaches designing a user’s journey holistically.
  • Collaborates with cross functional partners frequently.

Additional Perks + Benefits

In order to be successful in our Virtual First environment we needed to make changes that would allow employees to have more control over both where and how they work. Therefore, we embrace “non-linear workdays” with defined core collaboration hours that overlap across time zones. Beyond that, we encourage employees to design their own schedules to balance collaboration with needs for individual focus. We’ve also moved from “all day syncs” to an “async by default” culture, reserving meetings for discussion, debate, and decision-making, and handling all other work in our deep focus hours.
