Role Description

The mission for the Search Experience team is to help our users discover and find content from within their Dropbox. Our team owns the end-to-end user experience for search in the browser -- from suggestions that surface in the search bar to refining and displaying results. While search is important to all Dropbox users, there's an opportunity to make search more valuable for small teams of creative professionals.

As a designer on the Search Experience team, you will be responsible for creating a clear, efficient, and intuitive experience. You’ll collaborate with designers, engineers and product managers to deliver a cohesive experience. We’re looking for someone with a strong design process -- from understanding pain points to owning the craft and finish of the product. You will join as the second designer on Search Experience. Search is a core part of the Dropbox experience and as a key member of this team you’ll have a big impact.

Responsibilities

    • Design search experiences that makes it easy for the user to find the content they were looking for.
    • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ship new, impactful changes.
    • Understand and champion the needs of creative professionals
    • Drive growth in user adoption and engagement using data-driven product experiments.
    • Gather feedback and analyze the overall efficacy of launched solutions to identify pain points and iterate on them.

Requirements

    • Thrives in ambiguity and prefers a fast-paced entrepreneurial style of work.
    • Communicates iteratively through various media, from sketches to high resolution prototypes.
    • Demonstrates a strong attention to detail with a solid foundation in visual and interaction design.
    • Highly collaborative and excited to partner with designers from across Dropbox.
    • 2+ years of experience working as a UX or Product Designer
    • Prototypes with Figma (or similar tools like Sketch, Adobe XD, Framer, etc).

Additional Perks + Benefits

In order to be successful in our Virtual First environment we needed to make changes that would allow employees to have more control over both where and how they work. Therefore, we embrace “non-linear workdays” with defined core collaboration hours that overlap across time zones. Beyond that, we encourage employees to design their own schedules to balance collaboration with needs for individual focus. We’ve also moved from “all day syncs” to an “async by default” culture, reserving meetings for discussion, debate, and decision-making, and handling all other work in our deep focus hours.
