It currently takes the same amount of time to process an average American mortgage as it does to walk nonstop from Manhattan to San Francisco! Xpanse is working to change that.

It’s our mission to create a universal platform that brings clarity, ease, automation and security to the origination process. Our SaaS platform will power the mortgage industry and its relationships with a massive network of third-party providers that are integral to the mortgage process. By focusing on the customer, using automation, real-time intelligence, big data, and analytics we are changing the way borrowers, lenders, servicers, and service providers take care of business.

Disrupting an industry is a team sport, so we are looking for the best and brightest to make an impact and change the future of an $11 trillion industry. We are growing rapidly in the Seattle Area and looking for a Senior Design Technologist to join our team.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Rapidly build and iterate on appropriate-fidelity prototypes that express design intent, using the best and most appropriate tools and techniques for the task.
  • Develop functional prototypes to prove and sell concepts to development teams, senior leadership, and partners.
  • Use your technical expertise to bring UX concepts to life across a range of fidelities, from simple click-through prototypes to full-fidelity experience reference applications.
  • When relevant, you will deliver code on the target platform and know when doing so is not necessary or practical.
  • Partner with engineering to ensure that interactive techniques and technologies translate through to shipping products and services.
  • Combine UX Design and engineering expertise into a single discipline, to develop, prototype, and test innovative user experience solutions.
  • Presenting work to peers, product teams and executive leadership.
  • Create solutions that inspire others to invest in new ideas across the Business to Business and Business to Consumer product portfolio.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Well versed in a balanced mix of development and prototyping platforms and tools and will select the best and most appropriate for the task.
  • Understand the strengths and weaknesses of each delivery platform and can identify opportunities and work creatively within the constraints it imposes.
  • Be able to work creatively through and around perceived limitations and/or challenges imposed by the delivery platform to create delightful experiences for customers.
  • You have domain knowledge (or a deep curiosity and motivated interest to learn) in financial services in general and in the mortgage industry in particular is highly valuable, though not required.
  • Have strong front-end proficiency, be a creative problem solver and have a keen eye for good functional design.
  • Feel comfortable reading, writing vanilla JavaScript, extending your own libraries and creating task automation jobs to speed up team development.
  • You are equally passionate about design as you are about technology.
  • Able to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with a high-level of autonomy.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6+ years’ experience as a front-end technologist, engineer or UX prototyper.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Understanding and fluent usage across a broad spectrum of technologies including (but not limited to): JavaScript/NodeJS, HTML/CSS, XML/JSON, and Responsive/Adaptive Design.
  • Understanding of performance and how to mitigate latency issues.
  • Proven ability to simplify and distill complex problems into intuitive and elegant experiences.
  • Ability to participate in the full lifecycle of design and development -- including ideation, prototyping, development, backwards compatibility, failovers, validation, and user-testing.
  • Proven front-end development experience across multiple devices, webviews, and browsers.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
