As a Staff Product Designer, you will get to design our customer and carrier experiences on web and mobile with bold vision. In this role, you will be a leader in conducting research, as well as building the final design, while working within a cross-functional team responsible for delivering feature updates and improvements to our Carrier app.

The ideal candidate for this position aims for an impactful outcome over aesthetically-pleasing output. You will continuously evolve and improve your product IQ in order to make decisive and educated decisions. When the information you need to make a decision isn't available you are curious and take independent action to procure the necessary data and evangelize the insights. Our team is built on a bedrock of trust, empathy, and dependability. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment is a must.

What You'll Do

• Work within a collaborative and inclusive environment to build mobile and web products that revolutionize the way we see freight
• Architect the style and structure of our design language system
• Conduct research in order to identify and understand user desires
• Schedule and administer user testing on new prototypes 
• Establish key metrics to indicate success or failure upon launch of new designs
• Create and iterate on designs for challenging product problems
• Schedule and run design workshops that involve members of the cross-functional team
• Build flows that make the complex feel simple 
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 4+ years of UI/UX product design experience creating web and mobile apps at either a well-established organization or a high-growth company
• Advanced knowledge of Figma
• Strong visual design skills that demonstrate the ability to craft a premium aesthetic
• Ability to build, expand and manage component-based design systems
• Significant experience conducting in-person user research and effectively using the findings to improve our mobile/web products
• Experience working cross functionally, with a strong ability to document and communicate design obstacles and objectives in a clear and concise way
• Experience working in a fast-paced and execution-focused environment 
• Strong work ethic, sense of urgency and accountability is a must

Compensation Philosophy

We're committed to compensating people well, not only through cash and equity (options), but with 99% employer-covered medical, vision, dental, and disability insurance as well. All employees are offered a work-from-home stipend, monthly internet stipend, and a 4% 401(k) match.

At Mothership, we believe it's vital to offer a range of compensation packages, so you have the power to make the appropriate financial decision for yourself and your family. Upon offer, you will receive a breakdown of 5 different cash vs. equity packages to choose from, with additional information on estimated equity valuation.

The cash portion for this role ranges from $142,400 - $178,000.

We offer equity options in ISO that vest over four years with a one-year cliff. The % and value will be discussed later in the interview process.
