Do you have an eye for detail that borders on obsession? Are you a champion for quality and collaboration?

Groupon’s mission is to become the daily habit in local commerce and fulfill our purpose of building strong communities through thriving small businesses by connecting people to a vibrant, global marketplace for local services, experiences and goods. In the process, we’re positively impacting the lives of millions of customers and merchants globally. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success. If you want to take more ownership of your career, then you're ready to be part of Groupon.

The Design Union is a team of talented Product Designers, UX Researchers, and UX Content Strategists at Groupon who are striving to revolutionize local commerce impacting the experience of customers through our creativity and real passion for solid UX design. Our multidisciplinary team focuses on innovating both consumer and merchant sides of product initiatives. We drive the end-to-end product design for both customers and merchants—including defining the problem rooted from customer insights, brainstorming on the product vision, crafting and validating workflows, interactions, and visualizations.

As a design team, we champion entrepreneurship, authenticity, collaboration, and quality. Check out our team websiteteam video from an offsite this last year as well as Medium blogs, and take a peek at our Design team culture.

As a Senior UX Researcher in Design Union at Groupon, you will actively participate in ideation exercises to push the boundaries of what we build and to improve existing products, both in and outside personal expertise. We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact. We're curious, fun, a little intense, and kind of obsessed with helping local businesses thrive. Does that sound like a compelling place to work?

You'll Spend Time on the following:

  • Actively participate in ideation exercises to push the boundaries of what we build and to improve existing products, both in and outside personal expertise

  • Use various research methodologies to plan, execute, and report customer interactions with both Groupon Merchants and Consumers.

  • Collaborate with UX Design to define prototypes for use during usability testing of proposed designs and interactions.

  • Deliver research findings at various levels of detail to match the audience needs.

  • Deeply understand, contribute to, and if necessary challenge the requirements and business goals of projects you work on

  • Actively build a strong relationship with business leadership, marketing, sales, product and development teams to design a world-class consumer experience

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in HCI, Design, Cognitive Psychology or a related field

  • You have an impressive portfolio showcasing your strong problem-solving ability

  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • You’re a self-starter who can execute in a dynamic environment with minimal direction

  • You’re able to work collaboratively in an environment that promotes constant team communication

  • Extremely detail-oriented perspective and also able to see the big picture

  • You possess a strong point of view through the lens of a customer advocate

  • You obsess over the details while being able to see the big picture

  • You’re versed in not only qualitative but also quantitative research
