As a UX Designer in Publishing, you will utilize your love of games along with to your passion, innovation, and vision to define and craft experiences that affect our players over the lifetime of their relationship with our company and products – from acquisition to support and everything in between.

What we have been up to?

  • We have prototyped out a support toolset that increased efficiencies while reducing overall costs.
  • We’ve developed complex, in-game UI systems for Guild Wars 2 including our Trading Post, Gem Store, and Guild Halls.
  • We have redesigned our account management and registrations sites.
  • We have redesigned the Guild Wars 2 launcher for maintainability.
  • We launched a new forum for Guild Wars 2.
  • We have designed stores, and products sites for recent Guild Wars 2 launches.

What you will be a part of?

We will utilize your expertise and knowledge of information architecture, prototyping, and visual design, and UX best practices to design elegant solutions for various areas of the studio. Here’s a glimpse into your future.

  • Put the players’ needs at the center of all phases of the design process. Advocate for identifying the core needs of the players in every design discussion.
  • Collect customer service goals and pillars from publishing leadership and work closely with stakeholders to interpret requirements and convert them into solid UX strategies.
  • Produce designs using low-fidelity mockups, wireframes, user flows, journey mapping and other UX methodologies to help convert design challenges into viable customer-facing solutions.
  • Design user-friendly toolsets for supporting ArenaNet products and services.
  • Identify problems with existing end-user experiences, and design solutions that meet the studio’s needs. Projects include our product sites, store, customer service sites, account creation and management, and the launcher/patcher.
  • Communicate in a clear and focused manner to inspire teams to follow-through on great designs
  • Apply user-centric design principles to rapidly test and iterate your prototypes.

Work Samples

Please provide a link to an online portfolio that demonstrates:

  • Ability to evolve complex and ambiguous problems into clear, actionable solutions.
  • Knowledge of the best practices for web application UX and responsive design.
  • Experience with standard UX design tools such as Sketch, InVision, Axure, and Adobe CC.
  • Experience in designing large-scale web apps and working in the context of a common design system, including shared layouts and patterns, to drive consistency and alignment at scale.
  • Basic HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript skills are a plus.
