Avvo is looking to add a Senior User Experience Designer to the UX Design team.

The UX Design team at Avvo exists to bring simplicity and clarity to the legal world. We are advocates of the user above all else. We empower people with the tools they need to solve their legal problems. Our UX group has strong support and influence within the product organization, so you will contribute directly to the future of Avvo’s products and services.

We’re looking for someone who can lead design efforts on a cross-functional team with developers, product managers, and others to deliver products that meet real user needs. You should be comfortable with all types of work within the UX design process, with experience designing the full product lifecycle, from MVP through optimization. We’d love to meet you if you’re a committed, dependable leader who can drive an idea to completion, develop relationships, and provide mentorship to other designers.

Required

• Can approach problems at the levels of UI/interaction, flow, IA, and service design.
• Experience tackling a variety of UX problems and identifying the best approach for the problem at hand.
• Experience using design systems, working with pattern libraries and defining new ones as needed.
• An analytical approach to UX design, setting goals and success metrics for each project.
• Demonstrated ability to design mobile-first.
• Experience designing with site performance in mind.
• Knowledge of HTML & CSS for prototyping and running A/B tests.
• Excellent verbal and/or written communication skills. Comfortable presenting design concepts to all levels of the organization through UX briefs and prototypes using a storytelling approach.
• Strong focus on partnership and collaboration. Experience working with product and engineering leaders to define execution approach and resolve competing priorities (business needs, user needs, technical constraints).
• Comfortable working on cross-functional, Agile product teams.

Desired

• Ability to use Javascript for basic UI work in a prototyping environment.
• Working knowledge of SEO best practices, as they apply to design and user experience.
• Experience building and managing design systems.
• Ability to discuss the technical aspects of design (page weight, load time, javascript libraries, etc.).
• Experience partnering with UX researchers to identify opportunities for generative and evaluative studies.

Qualifications

• This an individual contributor role.
• 5+ years experience as a UX Designer, in-house and team-based.
• A degree in HCI, User-centered Design, Informatics, or other relevant field is preferred.
