We are looking for a Senior UX Designer to join our global R&D UX team to help us design powerful, easy to use, world-class tools for developers who are using Unity to create games.

As a Senior UX Designer, you’ll be responsible for designing how developers interact with our tools and game engine to create interactive content. You are expected to consider each project holistically, incorporating user requirements, business needs, technical constraints, and brand aspirations to design user flows down to the finest details.

Due to the technical nature of Unity’s developer products, you need to be familiar with and passionate about designing experiences for a technical audience. You must be able to distill complexity into a clean, simple, and well-structured experience design that places the user’s needs at the core of the design.

Key to being successful in this role is the ability to lead the design of projects from conceiving the initial brief with stakeholders, through advising engineering on design implementation and iteratively evolving the design based on feedback from stakeholders and users. The design culture at Unity is highly collaborative so you will need to be experienced in working closely with other designers, researchers, product managers, and developers to improve existing products and bring new ideas to life. We are looking for a strong communicator who’s able to share their knowledge and insight with both stakeholders and other members of the UX team.

Designing experiences for development tools requires a practical, hands-on understanding of software development, so you must have experience with designing for productivity and content-creation, as well as a basic understanding of code and engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Work with designers, product engineers, and product managers to holistically create a friendly and intuitive user experience.
• Identify, distill, and curate common UX patterns and work with peers and stakeholders to cross-pollinate and drive them into products.
• Partner with design leaders across the company to evolve Unity’s Design System and apply it to products and services as needed.
• Work with design leaders and peers to drive UX alignment and the right level of UI consistency into Unity’s products and services.
• Work with user research to continually validate user success and satisfaction with usability studies and testing.
• Create user-focused designs informed by market analysis, customer feedback, and user research insights.

Requirements

• Experience in UX design in technical contexts, e.g. productivity and/or developer tools.
• Practical knowledge and experience with 3D content creation tools and the 3D domain.
• Must be able to demonstrate an in-depth and thoughtful design process and how it’s been applied in previous contexts.
• Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction, cognitive science, etc., or equivalent work experience.
• A portfolio that demonstrates excellence in UX architecture, interaction and visual design.

Bonus points

• Experience with Unity.
• Experience in designing for AR/VR.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering results in an agile development environment.
• Familiarity with industry best practices for tools design and usability.
