User Experience Designer III

As a User Experience Designer III, you will work with researchers, content strategists, product managers, and engineers to develop and improve Expedia’s products and services for millions of our customers worldwide, every day.

 

 

What you'll do:

  • Design experiences across multiple devices and platforms, from responsive web applications to iOS and Android mobile apps

  • Choose the right tool for the right problem, fluidly moving through different stages of the process from sketching to low- and high-fidelity prototypes

  • Ground your work in observations, research, and analytics to help you come up with ideas and then validate through testing

  • Believe universal design is the best design and design for people of all abilities

  • Believe feedback is a gift, you actively seek it out, and give it thoughtfully in order to continually raise the quality of the experience

  • Think about design as a system, and contribute to and maintain our pattern library as a way to influence both quality and efficiency for all our products

  • Demonstrate proficiency in common visual and interaction design principles and practice, and build appropriate sketches, wireframes, flows, design comps, and prototypes with minimal guidance

  • Bring together different partners with varied perspectives to find opportunities to set goals and increase efficiency across organizational boundaries

  • Consistently build clear and compelling materials and narratives explaining design rationale to team and stakeholders using customer, business, or competitive insights

  • Develop empathy and insights about customers based on data and insights from research and other customer data sources

 

Who you are:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a design-related field (Human Factors, Interaction Design, Graphic Designer) or at least 5 years of professional experience

  • Strong in 2 core skills, capable in 2 others: Interaction/visual design, Information architecture, User research, Facilitation, Prototyping, Technical/Platform knowledge, UX writing, Illustration, Motion design

  • Portfolio demonstrating appropriate understanding and use of typography, color, imagery, grid systems, and well-crafted animation/transitions

  • Portfolio demonstrating sound product thinking through navigation, user flows, interaction design, and information architecture

  • Preferred experience hand-coding HTML/CSS and JS and a fundamental understanding of responsive web design standard methodologies
