Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of UX designers, visual designers and content strategists

  • Lead efforts to attract, grow, and retain a talented team
  • Develop a cohesive UX strategy across Avvo’s B2B and B2C products and services, while driving alignment between cross-functional departments
  • Evangelize for user-centered design and content first principles across the organization including at the functional leadership level
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration and meaningful connections with teams across the organization
  • Ability to flex between strategic and tactical work
  • Translating and communicating business needs into user problems
  • Foster transparency within the UX team and across the organization
  • Encourage and foster UX participation within the Seattle UX community

  • 5+ years of UX experience, with at least 3 years of working with product teams and UX designers on digital products
  • A degree in HCI, User-centered Design, Informatics, or other relevant field is preferred
  • Strong design experience including designing with site performance and mobile-first in mind as well as building and managing design systems.
  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices, as they apply to design and user experience
  • Experience partnering with UX researchers to identify opportunities for generative and evaluative studies.
  • Strong communication, listening and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate and achieve things through others

  • Experience with test and learn methodologies
  • Two-sided marketplace and/or experience in both B2B and B2C

We want to see your work. In your portfolio, we’ll look for the following:

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas and designs clearly.
  • Projects that show how you solve problems at every stage of the user-centered process, from research and early ideation through execution and optimization. Include at least one project that demonstrates your design skills and one project that showcases your people management skills.
  • Strong storytelling and evidence of critical thinking, not just deliverables.
