Napster is seeking an experienced UX Designer with formal interaction design training or equivalent skills to join Napster’s Product Team in Seattle.

About the role:

The primary focus of the UX Designer is on mobile app design for both Android and iOS but also extends to web clients. The position will support our direct-to-consumer (D2C) business as well as co-branded and white-label services to the consumer market through various international partnerships. This role will become the voice of authority on UXD for Napster, both internally as well as externally to our many partners worldwide. The position is located in Seattle, US and will directly report into Napster’s VP and Head of Product.
 

About you: 

You have expertise in your craft, are excited to join a company where you will have ample opportunity to drive transformative UXD programs, and are ready to take a principal role driving product design direction. You will work closely with the D2C product manager in identifying and executing on the best opportunities for advancing our objectives for user conversion and retention. To this end, you will collaborate with the full product development team and lead UXD initiatives for a small team of designers and usability analysts.

Main responsibilities:

  • Envision and craft holistic solutions for your users that span the entire customer journey, consistently delivering superior outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with other disciplines and partners to optimize solutions in light of the full business impacts and implications.
  • Inspire and lead the design of new and engaging experiences for all users, applying analytics and qualitative assessment methods to validate design assumptions.
  • Align business objectives to design and UX objectives, and direct the activities of a UXD team of designers and usability analysts.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative user research, coupled with design and co-creation skills, to understand the needs of our users.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Design, HCI, or a related field.
  • Master’s level degree in UXD-related program preferred
  • A total of 5+ years as a user experience designer, interaction designer, or similar role
  • 1+ years of experience successfully leading full life cycle design projects, from design strategy through execution and market introduction.
  • Fluency in best practices for User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design; practical knowledge of User Centered Design processes and lifecycles; ability to provide and effectively communicate strategic and tactical recommendations based on quantitative/qualitative data and optimal Design practices; familiarity and expertise in using contemporary design, prototyping and testing tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the latest design concepts, emerging technologies, and other developments in the user experience field.
  • Effectiveness in working across organizational boundaries to influence and deliver results.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
  • Able to translate concepts into concrete depictions to clarify ideas and advance collaboration based on shared understanding.
  • A strong portfolio of innovative, customer-centric design work that demonstrates proficiency in interaction and visual design.
