About the Role 

We are currently seeking a Vice President of Design to assume a key leadership position within our organization. Reporting directly to the President of Product and Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Highspot by spearheading our design vision across various functions. As the head of our Design team, consisting of more than 30 talented designers, you will work collaboratively with other senior executives to bring our brand and product experiences to life. Your primary objective will be to guide your teams to craft exceptional, visually stunning, and high-performing user experiences and visuals that not only are loved by our customers, but also contribute to our brand equity and business growth.

What You'll Do

  • Build, lead, and grow a world-class design team by developing the skills, talents, and careers of the designers and design managers to realize their full potential
  • Set high-level and detailed design direction in collaboration with design managers and cross-functional peers
  • Translate business priorities into a design vision, strategy, roadmap, and OKRs for the design team while contributing your own ideas and solutions
  • Partner and collaborate with key cross-functional stakeholders including product management, engineering, services, and marketing to drive shared vision and execution of product plans
  • Be a compelling communicator and storyteller with the ability to bring diverse audiences on the product journey to sell and get buy-in for your design vision
  • Deliver a UX vision, along with a plan for evolutionary, iterative updates, that actualize the larger vision over time
  • To unleash the full potential of an already successful product and brand to propel it towards its next phase of growth and evolution through modernization, decluttering, and simplification of its design.
  • Bring diverse, equitable, and inclusive thinking to all decisions and work
  • Partner with finance and recruiting for budget and forecasting
  • Hold a high-quality bar for all work and help set the standard for our complete experience

Your Background

  • 14+ years of hands-on, inspiring design experience that includes a history of excellent work across product, visual, and video functions at scale.
  • 7+ years of that experience as a people manager at a similar or later-stage tech company, and experience managing managers
  • A deep understanding of modern design techniques, tools and technologies to rapidly build and test new prototypes
  • Experience in advocating for design-led approaches at multiple levels within an organization, but specifically with product and company leadership
  • Consumer or B2B product design and manager experience and an ability to demonstrate a relentless focus on your users
  • Experience working with agile development teams (agile/scrum/kanban). 
  • Executive presence and gravity and credibility at all levels
  • Experience driving and advocating for design guidance and systems across large organizations
  • Exceptional portfolio of your and/or your teams’ work that demonstrates the ability to create work that is both beautiful, effective, and impactful
  • Experience sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding for your team, and the ability to spot promising design talent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that lead to effective, honest, and actionable output
  • Understanding and appreciation for the correct application of data and metrics in product design
  • Attention to detail and relentless focus on raising the bar

Base salary range: $193,847 - $290,769 annually. Employees may also be eligible for bonuses, stock options, and other forms of compensation.


The above represents total expected compensation for this role. Actual compensation will depend on various job-related factors, including, but not limited to, location, experience, and job qualifications.

Location

Our HQ is located within walking distance of Pike Place Market and the Seattle Piers. With amazing 360 views of the Puget Sound and Downtown Seattle. The only downside, there are almost too many places to pick for your lunch meetings.
