The Job:

The Business Systems Architect will help shape the future of Tango Card, providing leadership around Tango Card’s enterprise data platform and business systems as well as identification of opportunities for process improvement. With an extensive functional and technical understanding of data architecture and business applications, you will collaborate across the organization to analyze problems, build a sustainable foundation, and drive progress on major initiatives for your fellow Tangocardians. This is a high impact role on a growing Business Systems team dedicated by mission to seeing the big picture, breaking down silos, and asking questions to provide the right solution – and continue developing upon it in an agile environment. We need someone passionate about modern data platforms like Snowflake who shares our vision for a consumer model to democratize data and empower analytics across the organization while working with a best-of-breed tech stack to execute and deliver.

Reports to: Director, Business Systems

As an Business Systems Architect at Tango Card, you will:

  • Drive business systems data architecture design and articulate solutions options to colleagues
  • Take our data platform to the next level by crafting an Enterprise Data Hub with consumer model
  • Administer Snowflake to serve stakeholder and system requirements (raw, transformed; operational, analytical)
  • Design and manage a data governance framework to guarantee definitions and ensure continuity
  • Build and scale data pipelines from our source applications and databases into Snowflake
  • Validate and test ETL/ELT processes, monitoring performance and tuning as necessary
  • Oversee data modeling across our business systems and beyond to establish review processes
  • Design, build, and maintain system integrations to automate and scale our data and business systems
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Business Intelligence, Security, and others to inform strategy and design
  • Extract, scrub, quality control, normalize, and model data, setting and following guidelines
  • Complete assigned tickets including functional/technical development, testing, review, UAT, and deployment while communicating progress and blockers
  • Promote best practices and help guide the team toward continuous improvement
  • Understand data technology trends and the practical application of existing and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business needs
  • Mentor team members to support their understanding of the architecture and aid in their technical development

To be effective in our Business Systems Architect role, you must have:

  • 5+ years in Enterprise/Data Architecture, Business Systems, and/or Solutions Consulting
  • Significant hands-on experience with current data platforms & databases (eg: Snowflake, Redshift, or Postgres)
  • Robust background designing, building, and scaling data pipelines and enterprise ETL/ELT for data warehousing
  • Deep understanding of – and passion for – data modeling and structures
  • Expert proficiency with SQL and query languages
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of business and a customer service mindset

Our ideal Business Systems Data Architect at Tango Card will have most of the following skills and experience:

  • Experience with key enterprise applications, such as Salesforce (CRM) and NetSuite (ERP)
  • Understanding of programming languages and concepts, eg: Python, Ruby, JavaScript, or Java
  • Technical skills and background in at least several of the following areas:
    • Enterprise Data Hub Architecture
    • Microservices or API-based Integration Architecture
    • Event-driven Architecture
    • Automation & Integration Platforms (eg: Workato, Tray.io, Boomi)
    • Modern Data Pipeline Management Tools (eg: Fivetran)
    • Process Mining, Process Discovery, Value Stream Mapping
  • Knowledge of AWS, Azure, and/or other cloud computing services
  • Ability to prioritize tasks of varying and/or similar priority, think independently, and take the initiative
