About the role

As the second member of our new Platform Engineering team, you will be a major contributor to the architecture, design and implementation of our cloud solutions. You will work closely with our development teams to implement, scale and operate our cloud infrastructure.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage, monitor, improve, and experiment with infrastructure in a cloud environment. We use Google Cloud Platform, and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
  • Ensure that all infrastructure is prepared for scale and growth.
  • Stay on top of new developments with cloud infrastructure.
  • Maintain and improve our IAC (terraform) implementations and ensure they are accessible to all engineers.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD process to deploy infrastructure and application changes to multiple environments
  • Work closely with the SRE team to ensure infrastructure meets reliability requirements
  • Troubleshoot issues across services deployed to environments in GCP
  • Provide guidance and technical excellence to cross functional team of software engineers & QA engineers
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call duties
  • Technologies you are likely to be working with: GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, Datadog, CircleCI, Codefresh, Python, Go

About you

  • 3+ years of experience working with Google Cloud (GCP)
  • Scripting and/or programming experience (we use Python and Golang)
  • Expertise in Kubernetes and have in depth knowledge with designing, administering, and maintaining kubernetes clusters (GEK) in a production environment
  • Experience using configuration management tools (we use Terraform)
  • Experience with metrics, monitoring, and visualization tools (we use Datadog)
  • You appreciate working in a collaborative team setting.
  • You are eager to learn, share knowledge and ideas, and grow with our team.
  • You are calm under pressure.
  • You are available and willing to step in for emergency response.
  • You are relentlessly curious, willing to explore all aspects of the product to identify gaps and opportunities to meet customer needs.
  • You want to own and drive initiatives within Syndio that leverage and build your skills and interests.
  • You care about and share in our mission to eradicate pay disparity in the workplace.

Role progression

  • Within 1 month, you’ll complete a comprehensive and supportive onboarding process and be able to make isolated contributions to the cloud.
  • Within 3 months, you’ll have a grasp of the complete set of components (services, tools, configuration, etc.) that make up the product and infrastructure. You will continue to make isolated contributions.
  • Within 12 months, you’ll be able to suggest and implement complex changes to the architecture, design, and implementation of our cloud platform

Location

Our company is currently considered fully remote with the intention to go hybrid and get an office in Seattle where about 25% of our company resides. Until then, the team will often get together for coffee or lunch or after work cocktails to connect in person.
