Component Engineer

COMPONENT ENGINEER
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define and drive a part qualification process for SpaceX's high volume consumer user terminal program
- Responsible for component and vendor selection and for recommending and evaluating new components
- Work with part vendors to obtain specifications and samples; monitor part status changes
- Manage internal part number, release of bill of materials, second sourcing and pricing using our Siemens enterprise data management system
- Manage component failure analysis and work with reliability engineers to determine parts meet reliability requirements.
- Work with systems that manage part life cycles
- Manage bill of materials configurations, establish multiple sourcing, drive engineering changes that are component driven
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 5+ years of experience as a component engineer or 10+ years of experience as a component engineer
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering
- Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work proactively and effectively in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision
- Team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
- Familiar with the following standards: AEC, AQEC, MIL-PRF-38535, MIL-PRF38534, MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-1580, EEE-INST-002, PEM-INST-001, SMC-S-011, SMC-S-010, IPC, GEIA-STD-0005-2
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products
