COMPONENT ENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Define and drive a part qualification process for SpaceX's high volume consumer user terminal program
• Responsible for component and vendor selection and for recommending and evaluating new components
• Work with part vendors to obtain specifications and samples; monitor part status changes
• Manage internal part number, release of bill of materials, second sourcing and pricing using our Siemens enterprise data management system
• Manage component failure analysis and work with reliability engineers to determine parts meet reliability requirements.
• Work with systems that manage part life cycles
• Manage bill of materials configurations, establish multiple sourcing, drive engineering changes that are component driven

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 5+ years of experience as a component engineer or 10+ years of experience as a component engineer

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering
• Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work proactively and effectively in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision
• Team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
• Familiar with the following standards: AEC, AQEC, MIL-PRF-38535, MIL-PRF38534, MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-1580, EEE-INST-002, PEM-INST-001, SMC-S-011, SMC-S-010, IPC, GEIA-STD-0005-2
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products
