The Engineering Ops team is part of ExtraHop’s R&D organization and works side by side with engineers to develop and release innovative solutions for application and security monitoring. Team members are responsible for making the software engineering process efficient, providing operational support, and developing critical engineering services.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Migrate current DITA-based documentation builds from Javascript (Grunt/Metalsmith) into Go and Hugo.
  • Reimplement JS- and shell-based doc dependency logic for incremental builds in Go
  • Dynamically create Apache Ant build file(s) to generate HTML via DITA-OT for docs that need to be rebuilt
  • Reimplement JS-based post-processing logic in Go
  • Reimplement build of final HTML artifacts in Hugo
• Work closely with software engineers, devops, and techpub team to ensure new system satisfies design requirements and is maintainable.
• Create clear documentation on the new system for future maintainers.

Required Qualifications

• Deep understanding of build systems (file dependencies, incremental builds, parallelization techniques, container-based builds, etc)
• Extensive development experience in Go
• Familiarity with Javascript and Javascript-based task runners (Grunt)
• Experience with build tools like Apache Ant
• Practical experience with Hugo or other HTML templating systems
• Heavy experience with the Linux ecosystem
• Direct experience with Git version control systems and hosting platforms (Gitlab).

Desired Skills and Experience

• History of working with CI/CD build pipelines
• Practical knowledge of building and using docker containers
• Experience converting between HTML templating systems (eg: Metalsmith to Hugo)
