Director of Architecture

Working with the Chief Software Architect and VP of Engineering, you will have responsibility for creating an actionable road-map and ensuring that the architects and software engineers can execute to achieve desired business and technology results. While you will be directly managing the architects on the team, you will need to use your leadership skills to bring agreement and unity to the architects shaping the direction of the SkyKick platform. Additionally, you will be working with and coordinating with the Product Management team to align business value with the architectural road-map.

• You will be responsible for building and supporting a high-performance agile culture.
• You will attract, retain, and cultivate a high performing software development organization.
• You will paint a compelling vision that motivates team members to achieve excellent results.
• You will inspire and empower the team to collaborate and continually improve their skills and practices.
• You have an architectural understanding of, and implementation experience with, the software development of modern applications, especially cloud based and hybrid solutions.
• You will leverage your understanding of the approach and value of Agile as a methodology and be able to lead Agile software development projects.
• You will conduct one-on-one and performance reviews, and assist with career pathing and goal setting
• You will assume technical responsibility for Software Engineering standards, policy and design for all significant projects and major areas covering application data and infrastructure domains focused on cloud solutions.
• You will provide advice and guidance to all areas of Software Engineering and Product Management, including key stakeholders within the company.
• You will provide technology governance by conducting architectural assessments or leading design tasks to drive alignment to standards best practices.
• You will support the portfolio and project management processes by assisting in prioritization and sequencing of projects, support project work breakdown activities, help remove roadblocks, and lead resolution to disagreements related to solution design.
   

The expertise you bring:

• Demonstrated experience in managing high performing, agile teams with great technical and consultative capabilities
• 10+ years recent experience defining enterprise architectures, architecting complex enterprise solutions and/or developing complex technical architectures
• Deep interpersonal skills, including collaboration, facilitation and negotiation
• Deep written, verbal and customer-facing presentation skills
• Deep experience with architecture frameworks, methods, and tools\
• Senior level experience in systems design and architecture for large scale enterprise solutions.
• Strong experience managing and leading change within an organization.
• Strong facilitation skills including conflict management issue resolution brokering agreements and removing roadblocks.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor others.
• Ability to advocate promote and sell ideas to achieve architectural goals improve efficiency and reduce complexity
