OctoML is looking for an Engineering Director to lead and grow our Hardware Enablement teams!Job descriptionThe Hardware Enablement team is responsible for supporting a wide range of hardware devices in Apache TVM and Octomizer, including CPUs, GPUs, ML accelerators, edge devices, mobile devices, and more. The team works closely with our customers to add new hardware capabilities to our products, going deep into the specifics of each hardware platform and integrating with their development toolchain.As engineering director, you will lead and grow the Hardware Enablement team and ensure the team is delivering great results for our customers. Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Hiring great engineers to grow the team to roughly 30 engineers over the next 6-9 months.
• Supporting the team with their career development, providing feedback, and growing new engineering leaders.
• Coordinating between the Hardware Enablement team, the rest of the OctoML engineering leadership, as well as our product and business teams to support cross-cutting projects.
• Developing and refining processes to ensure high technical standards are being met, such as design reviews, testing, and process tracking.
• Working with the rest of the engineering leadership team to define the long-term roadmap for the Hardware Enablement team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• A strong track record leading engineering teams. 5+ years of experience managing teams, and 3+ years managing managers.

• 10+ years as a hands-on practitioner building high-performance software solutions with an emphasis on hardware-specific optimization and performance characterization. Experience programming in systems languages such as C++ and CUDA.
• Passion for product design and excellence, and a track record collaborating with product teams to develop strategy and execute against that strategy.
• Experience driving engineering processes and ownership of a team strategy.

• Demonstrated track record of effective team management and mentorship. Ability to attract and retain senior engineers. Ability to scale the organization and foster a diverse, inclusive team culture.
• Experience in ML and AI systems is desirable, but not necessary to be considered for this role.
