Job Description

The CFT Director is responsible for strong engineering response and support to customers for BIG-IP Products! This will include leading Global teams of RDT (Rapid Dev team), CAT (Customer Advocacy team) in partnering with GS teams in providing service request responses to customers. The Director of CFT will provide strategic direction on current and new support processes aligned with business critical needs, including migrations and expanded Support areas. This person will work closely with customers and customer account teams to evaluate current and future support needs for customers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Set technical and strategic direction for Product Engineering Teams and Managers
  • Develop successful working relationship with customers, Channel partners, and 3rd party vendors to ensure quality of services and deliverables, timely project completion, and company financial gains.
  • Positively represent department as needed: including project teams, task forces, audits, business or technical meetings with internal or external customers.
  • Defines department policies and implements engineering standards and processes.
  • Acts as a mentor and trains management staff in people management.
  • Develops and modifies PE processes and methods; focus on continuous improvement.
  • Directs a group of managers involved in the creation and or support of a variety of products.
  • Facilitates communication upward and across project teams.
  • Develops and manages operating budgets.
  • Participate in continuous self-education in Engineering field (i.e., methodologies, tools) to keep abreast of industry direction, new technologies, and standards

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge and expertise in software engineering methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage executive customer escalations and be that Voice of Customer from Product Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and look for improvements in processes and products.
  • Strong analytical skills and approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams; including Managers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work calmly with all levels of management and across all fields.
  • Ability to inspire and encourage others
  • Strong leadership/mentoring abilities.
  • Experience developing and managing department budget(s).
  • Extensive experience with bug tracking and triage systems
  • Experience with QA metrics and reporting
  • Experience with Configuration Management processes
  • Experience with all phases of technical publications cycle
  • Experience developing innovative approaches for a global market.
  • Flexibility and willingness and ability to adapt to new processes, ideas, and concepts.
  • Self-directed/self-motivated.
  • Ability to delegate.
  • Organized managerial work habits.
  • Demonstrated excellence in all written communications.
