Job Description:

The Director of Sales Engineering will lead, grow and manage Redapt’s Sales Engineering team comprising senior Solutions Architects and Technical Sales Engineers. Our Sales Engineering team is responsible for the overall technical aspects of pre-sale activity, including technical presentations, customer requirement gathering, pre-sale designs, proof-of-concepts, delivery requirements as well as identifying strategic business opportunities. 

This position requires an accomplished technical leader with experience and knowledge of datacenter infrastructure, storage and cloud technologies in hyperscale environments. We are looking for a player-coach who will manage and develop our growing sales engineering team, while acting as a mentor to foster and develop talent.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology, takes a consultative approach to pre-sales activities and demonstrates a commitment to secure the technical wins that will be key to Redapt’s and the team’s success.

Responsibilities: 

  • Create and execute the Sales Engineering strategy and vision for a rapidly growing organization
  • Recruit, develop & build a team of dynamic and energetic Solutions Architects
  • Manage performance, build cohesiveness, lead, mentor, train, and motivate team to facilitate cooperation and ensure efficiency.
  • Lead from the front, actively participating in large, complex sales engagements with relationships with CISO’s, CIO’s, and technical leaders
  • Work with multiple vendors on strategizing and building the technical relationship
  • Partner with various departments including office of CTO, Executive leadership, Sales, Operations and Marketing
  • Partner closely with Sales leadership on implementing and achieving sales goals for the company
  • Develop, implement and continually refine the strategic vision for the Sales Engineering department and map to the Sales organization
  • Participate at the executive level in strategic sales engagements
  • Communicate customer insights to inform business strategy and roadmap
  • Develop the Sales Engineering team, enable the team to contribute, succeed, and advance as individuals and within the company
  • Coach Sales Engineers on developing customer-facing collateral e.g. presentations, demos, proposals and solution designs
  • Develop and maintain an internal knowledge base to enable team members to access key information such as use cases, solution designs, POCs, assets, training, etc.
  • Become an expert in best in breed solutions, enable your team with training, and provide 1:1 coaching and development at every opportunity.
  • Leverage your experience in driving career pathing, SE specializations, and certifications to differentiate and scale Redapt within the industry.
  • Manage the Sales Engineering budget to include headcount plans, expenses, and productivity metrics
  • Report planning, progress, and achievements on a regular basis
  • The role will require travel up to 50% to ensure that sales and client needs are met and exceeded.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a direct management or leadership role building, leading and motivating highly collaborative teams of experienced consultants and/or pre-sales engineers
  • 10+ years’ experience in a technical pre-sales role
  • Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other technical degree and/or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years’ experience in datacenter and cloud technologies
  • Extensive knowledge of underlying networking, compute, hpc and storage components
  • Ability to prepare and deliver technical presentations at a CxO level
  • Experience generating technical solutions for customer business issues including identifying new technologies or technologies outside of EMC products and solutions
  • Experience leading customer proof-of-concepts showcasing key features/functionally of a technical solution
  • Ability to contribute to meeting revenue targets by providing pertinent, timely and on-going customer technical information flow

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent Fortune 500 customer-facing experience with the ability to present in partnership with team members
  • Direct experience with OpenStack, CloudFoundry, AWS, Azure and container technologies
  • Strong conflict resolution, problem solving skills and analytical skills
  • Ability to attract, develop, engage and retain highly motivated and skilled team at various levels of the organization
  • Ability to develop partnerships & relationships internally & externally as well as lead and manage both direct and indirect teams in a matrixed organization
  • Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to drive revenue
  • An optimistic, energetic disposition. One who loves engaging with people - whether they are customers, prospects or just members of the community
