Position Summary

Swiftly is a growing organization and is looking for an experienced people manager to help build our Retail Platform team, which enables brick-and-mortar businesses to create a digital presence and connect with their customers. Our tech stack is composed primarily of Kotlin microservices running in Kubernetes on Azure…but we are more interested in engineering talent that is versatile and has the intellectual curiosity to learn new things and find the best tools to solve our problems.

 

Responsibilities Include

· Manage a team of 5-6 developers that builds services fundamental to the Swiftly platform, including identity, loyalty, coupons, shopping list, and search

· Use technical leadership and hands-on management by diving into architecture and code and pitch in when it’s most helpful to the team

· Utilize expertise with microservices architecture

· Operate production services, including on-call and incident management

· Use several development methodologies including agile and waterfall when leading the team.

· Other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

· BS or MS in Computer Science / Engineering or relevant work experience

· 8+ years of professional experience in software development

· Experience applying CS fundamentals in architecture design, data structures, algorithms and problem solving

· Experience with at least one modern programming language such as C#, Java

· Experience implementing high availability services

· Delivery experience working under an Agile/Scrum methodology

· Advanced proficiency with Java, such as understanding heap, multi-threading, profiling

· Demonstrable analytical / problem solving skills

· Great communication, collaboration skills and a strong teamwork ethic with both technical and non-technical audiences

· Experience working with AWS or Similar Cloud Environments.


Preferred Qualifications

· E-commerce experience or ad tech experience.

· Management experience in small and large organizations

 

Work Environment

The work is performed in a remote office environment.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to type, handle paperwork and sort, file or manipulate documents. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee is required to utilize audio visual programs for frequent meetings and discussions with fellow employees, vendors, outside agencies and/or customers. The employee may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds occasionally.
